  1. I'd like to thank all of them too. Their service is often forgotten but not un-noticed! Who I wouldn'd like to thank however.....is the person on the council mini-snow plough who has left the streets of Scalloway in such a damned mess with slush and ice. On a lot of roads and pavement's in lerwick you'd be hard pushed to imagine that there had been any snowfall at all. Sadly to say that's not the case at all in Scalloway, where the snow on the MAIN STREET on the pavements is near half a foot deep. It's an outright disgrace in this day and age that our streets can't be cleared when, at the same time, the council are working feverishly to keep LERWICK's roads and pavements clear. Did someone from the council once tell me that there was no bias toward lerwick in these matters? Or was that remark perhaps 'tongue in cheek'? I'll leave the rest of you to make up your minds on that count.....
  2. I said something similar in an earlier post except my idea was a little more radical......Build the new school IN Scalloway....there's no want for ground on the existing site what with a large field on the west side of the school.
  3. anyone else here play it? I've been playing since 04.....92m sp character. Anyone want to start a shetland corporation?? Could be fun =)
  4. whats your take on it? i like it, it's different but i like it

these so called 'scientists' aren't interested in the livelyhoods of our, or anyone else's fishermen for that matter. i don't know where they get their figures from but i can only assume that they must do some fishing of their own in recognised fishing grounds, but what if the fish have moved? a scientist would hardly know where the best fishing would be.
  6. whats going on with it lately! it was off most of last night...again! (***Mod Edit - Merged with the 20-odd other pages asking the same thing***)

  8. Orange......I'll never go back to them again after the hassle I had. 1st, they put up the price of my package. 2nd, they changed the package that I was on from a completely unlimited 8mb to an 8mb package with a 10gb download limit without notifying me. 3rd, when I unwittingly went over the download limit (without being told I had) they capped the speed of my connection within peak hours (6pm to 12am) to 512k. Only when I rang them to request my mac code so that I could switch to BT did they offer to take the cap off my account. By that time I'd had more than enough of them and I was going, no matter how much begging they did.
  9. Much the same thing happened at the Scalloway School some years back. A Boy found a mortar shall and took it to school and set it on the teachers desk hehe yeah...i know the lad who did that
  10. lol it's what we called our daft raft in the scalloway gala a few years back lol
  11. Okay, probably best I leave this well alone, considering where my (apparently one track) mind takes it. You've got a filthy mind
  12. Shetland Islands Sorry, but your exchange is not eligible to WIN The Race to Infinity as it has less than 1000 premises. ...We still want you to get involved so please go to 'VOTE NOW' to express your interest. If 75% of your exchange registers, BT will engage with your community to see what we can do in your area. we aint gettin it....not in the near future at least.

  14. May I suggest a compromise solution: Build the new AHS in Scalloway That's exactly what I said
  15. Why is it that whenever anyone says they do not want to cause a fuss, they either (a) have just caused one, or ( are about to do so. It is like the expression "with all respect..." which is only ever used just before something disrespectful is said. Fine. Just go ahead. In the same way I'm sure a number of people will see no problem in calling you a troll, or worse. mo often than not, it's not any one person who causes the fuss, it all our resident trolls that live here...
  16. i'd rather that they just fixed the problem, without screwing more money out of loyal, weary customers.
  17. they're goot bait for bubble fishing, them and centipedes...if you can stomach handling them.
  18. I was thinking along the same lines....but for historical reasons instead....Scalloway the ancient capital of Shetland and was the home (after Lunna) of the Shetland bus, for that reason you see more Norweigans here in the summer than any other nationality.
  19. Ewen Johnston doesn't charge any handling fee's. I ordered the gun the first of this week. As it's made to order, it takes 5-6 weeks for delivery. I'm really looking forward to getting it, I ordered a 4-12x mountmaster illuminated reticule telescopic sight for it, that should be arriving tomorrow.
  20. RE/SE in school was my sleep hour. That's how little it meant to me. I was brought up well, I didn't need an old book to learn morals and my rights from my wrongs. I'd far rather have been learning something worthwhile like joinery, history, more maths, computer studies, nautical studies etc etc...
  21. Maybe this has already been mentioned but what about the north star? isn't/wasn't that going to be converted into flats? I've not seen any work going on there....
  22. Just tried to buy it direct from Theoben and apparently there are new laws in place to stop air guns being shipped from stockists to home addresses. In short you need to buy your air rifle through an agent/dealer.
  23. Yup, Weihrauch have arguably given more to the world of air guns than any other maker beginning with the HW 35 and HW 77. I think both are still in production today, decades after they were first introduced and the rekord trigger is the best mass produced trigger unit on the market in my opinion.
