  1. Its about the boat getting into or out of the side of the pier, the boat that ties up fir the night can have problems depending on the wind speed and direction.
  2. 236 You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves. Law RVLR regs 25 & 27 So what some of you are saying is, when you come out of a fog bank you leave the fog lights on because you don't know where the switch is, RUBBISH! Don't drive the car until you familarise your self with the the vehicle. "sorry officer I drove 20 miles without lights on because I couldn't find the switch" will not go down well. There is no need what so ever to leave your fog lights on if there is a vehicle behind you, beleive me they can see you. An example, I was following a coach and 4 cars I too was driving a coach, we hit a thick fog bank approaching the halfway house. The cars were probably just and I mean just within a safe stopping distance, I know I would be in a position to stop. The coach driver switched on his fog lights (why I will never know), all 4 cars hit the brakes , only one vehicle in that group needed to use fog lights and I did as there was no one behind. Take a trip on the M6 in the Midlands and see what its like to drive behind tens of mindless drivers with fog lights who do not give a dam about anyone else but themselves.
  3. Owre-weel, The blue led lights are not the problem, I think they do enhance the vehicle however they are illegal to use on a public highway but I guess as long as there not flashing the law turn a blind eye. As a truck driver for over 33 years I would have extra amber to the side and front and red to the rear to make my truck stand out in fact a few of us showed our trucks at truckfest. There would be no need for the use of fogs in a built up area unless it's that bad you can't see the hand in front of you and there is no other vehicles in proximity but if it's that bad home would be the best place. Rule of thumb: poor visibility use your fogs as soon as you see another vehicle turn them off, there is a fine up to £1000 for the misuse of fog lights. Shetlandpeat, don't get me started on the amber flashing beacons, Black 4x4 driving around the isles as if Dr Who were after them. Like you I like to see a nice looking vehicle, it also demonstrates the dedication of the driver. A clean image is good company prestige . . .
  4. THREADS MERGED 26/11/2013 I know we have touched on this subject before but we need something done. There are too many so called "professional drivers" of large vehicles trucks and coaches using these extra front lights. What folk do not realise, the roads here not very forgiving especially at night and when there are 2 large vehicles approaching each other on a wet night it makes it difficult to judge as you cannot see the edge of the road or whatever may be parked on the verge close to the white line marking the edge of the road. What part of the road do these lights illuminate? Approximately 3.5 meters in front and across the width of the road, not really aiding the driver is it so I asked a "professional driver" why, why do they insist in using these lights the answer, wait for it, "they look cool". I could not believe what my ears had just witnessed, a total disregard to other drivers for the sake of looking cool. The normal everyday driver should never have to use front or rear "fog lights" as there will be, most of the time other vehicles in close proximity however, should there be a need then they should be extinguished as soon as there is a vehicle in sight, it’s called driving. There must be someone out there on the council, the force that can do something to police this issue and or run a media campaign. What do you all think??? https://www.gov.uk/driving-adverse-weather-conditions-226-to-237/fog-234-to-236 236 You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. 7. I suppose Speccy you got a ticket???. If you care to study what I posted however, I will endevour to try and explain to those not understanding .... I phoned I got the expected engage tone, I redial and I hit redial continuously until 1040 , that is when I got to actually speak to someone.during the time I was hitting redial I got the ringing tone, I was thinking Nice I'm through , not the case. It rang 3times I then get message "SORRY THERE IS NO REPLY" I had this about 8 times; another message I got after a ring tone of about 6time was"SORRY THE OTHER PERSON HAS HUNG UP".So you can see way I am not so pleased. The internet site was a farse too. So get off your high horse and stop complaining about others until you know the facts!!!!!! Oh and when I got to speak to someone I was told to try Ticketmater .. I would have paid good money and I don't expect tickets for free either
  8. Ok smarty it's late... To let the driver of the vehicle behind know you are there, so THEY can re-act by slowing down and keep a safe distance.
  9. But that's the whole idea of fog lights to let the vehicle behind know you are there in time for you to re-act like slow down and keep a safe distance , it is then then the driver of the lead vehicle to turn off their lights as they have done the job of warning; hense "fog warning lights" SIMPLES !!!

  11. Urabug .. Sorry I have to disagree, I have driven trucks and coaches for 33years all over Europe they dazzel no matter where you are seated and I believe the normal every day driver should never have to use their fog lights as they would be in a situation were there is traffic all around them.
  12. John the answer to your initial question, if visability is bad and you cant see a vehicle behind you switch on your fog lights but as soon as you see the headlights of a vehicle turn them off because they may not see your brake lights and run up the ass of you. I've seen this all to often .. I think I'm gona sell my wing John... Another project !!!

  14. Ok Flipping YELL, UNST, FETLAR ETC do we need a geography lesson, I guess you have perfect internet..
  15. The worst thing they ever put on a vehicle because no one knows how and when to use them. Rule of thumb, if you can see a vehicles head lights in your rear view mirror "TURN YOUR FOG LIGHTS OFF" because you will only blind the driver, Simple it’s called driving your car, know what’s going on around you. As for front so called fog lights, turn the dam things off. As a motorcyclist when riding in low light and wet roads, the water droplets on the visor is magnified by oncoming headlights and these drivers who think that the front fog lights are a fashion accessory make it even worse. Rant Over
  16. I meant to say I wonder "HOW" many folk in the rurals got tickets!!
  17. Yes but I constantly hit redial for 40 min I got engaged tone, I got through and after 3rings I got there is no reply and other times I got the other person hung up. The website wouldn't put tickets in my basket .. I wonder how folk in the rurals got tickets.....
  18. Now that would have been too easy. I wounder how many folk in the rurals got a ticket
  19. I logged in at 10 am clicked get tickets only to find basket empty , I repeated this about 5times then got on the phone at about 1003 , engaged tone was to be expected but I did get through about 15 times upto about 1040 with. "Sorry there is no reply" and " the other person has hung up" When I did eventually get through they where sold out!!!! I'm not a happy bunny I can tell you. Karl
