The oil seeping through the sedimentary rock on wir folks croft in Whalsay.
  1. Its at the back of my house at St Olaf Street. We had a planning notification the other week stating its to be demolished and a three storey archive and library building to be erected. (with parking for 37 vehicles)
  2. That was my one, just been shotblasted.
  3. Anybody have any parts lying around I especially require a base (***Mod Edit - Moved to Consumer Advice & Resources. Although it may be news in Shetland that somebody has a spare red telephone box foundation you may have more luck here...good luck***)
  4. There is a reguler bus service from the airport. No 10 I think. This will take you to the new bus station near Jamieson Quay and you will see the boat from there. 3 Euros and 25 minutes You will even have time to walk up to Union Street which is the main shopping area in Aberdeen
  5. In our experience of camping in Europe (30 weeks) it was a mistake to go ito the larger towns with a motorhome. Find a nice campsite and use the bus. Europa Camping and Caravanning was the best guide book we found. Written in German but had a English text.
  6. JA stewart wrote "My dad will probably kill me when he inevitably reads this, being that he is from Whalsay" Its good to see you forming opinions without bias but the downside is the likelyhood of the 'Johnnie A Taing S.A.' inheritance portfolio slipping from your grasp due to comments made about the Bonnie Isle. Dad
  7. I see Brian Gregson is stuck in Malaysia or Dubai on business till 27th. Dont think a Red Cross parcel is needed just yet.
  8. Its not a bad thing Keeps folk in work Chill out with a bottle of Chateauneuf-du-pape PS James do you know where mam keeps the salt

Hi James Dad here again Can you give me a ring sometime Theres a black and white cat moved into the house Is it ours? I cant get hold of Mam Sorry to bother you
  11. Oh hi James Dad here Mams gone away on a school trip or something for 10 days Fancy a run up to Lerwick to keep me company Bit boring in the hoose on me own
  12. I used to repair ice makers in pubs clubs and hotels and was quite surprised by the muck that came out of the water tanks in even the smallest machines. It begs he question is it the food that gives you problems or the ice in your drinks. I never take ice now for that reason.
  13. It must be very difficult being an elected member on the Council. Its all too easy to forget what a good standard of living we have. Perhaps we should be thanking Sandy Cluness and Councillors past and present instead of continually criticising them. I voted for Sandy, Allan and Caroline and would do so again.
  14. Now this puts me in a bit of a quandary. In the Posh end of St Olaf Street we have a yearly safari supper which involves 4 or 5 houses and we each make some food and go from house to house having a jolly old time. The problem is we normally include Mr Clarks current home and there is a fairly vigorous means test before inclusion. Would it be possible for the SIC to agree to pay the £1.7 million so we can go ahead with our party rather than the environmentally unfriendly option which is to throw out a good 11lb home grown Whalsay hen.
