Myself and some freinds from south spent 2 weeks in Iceland touring about in 2008, before the Icelandic banking problems started . Back then it was about 138-140k to the pound and it worked out fuel prices were slightly more than south prices but slightly cheaper than Shetland prices ( so worked out good for me ) , within a few pence either way . So probably the exchange rates due to the Icelandic banking problems is why the prices are cheaper in Iceland . But still back in 2008 , Faroe fuel prices was about 98p per litre , about 30p cheaper than local prices

Yep , hopefully there will be a link to Iceland again , I would love to go back to Iceland . Denmark is a long long way to go just to catch a ferry , which sometimes sails through Yell Sound anyways .

I'm probably being very stupid here , but is it still possible to fly direct from Shetland to Norway ? or is there a trip south needed ?

A few weeks ago working behind the shetland catch an otter came up to see what we were doing , he or she stood about 15 feet away , had a quick look and then wandered away again.

From Whiteness to Lerwick is not too bad ,both sides of Wormadale is a bit slippery but just have to take it easy .
