  1. Chuck numbers are slightly depleted due to polecat activity. Eggs might be a bit of a premium from now on. I will see how they go. Tbh, mine are ornamental hens at the moment! Eggs? What are those? Grain is over £7 for 25kg too.
  2. We should be able to offer carriage driving - just phone nearer the time - 01595 809 432 http://www.thordale.co.uk
  3. I am appalled. Absolutely appalled. This is shocking. See you on Monday.
  4. People on Facebook who write in bad Shetland dialect because they live here but are from mainland UK. I am from mainland UK and I think it looks pretentious and rather sad tbh. I do not think it looks like they are "fitting in" but more like they want to be like one of da boys! See? It is irritating.
  5. I was right. For once I was right. How dare they? What on earth has that got to do with Shetland. The downright dishonesty. They are blatantly misleading the public.
  6. On their banner - where the changing pictures are - is that really Shetland? Seems to have an awful lot of trees? Are those trees? And I am not liking VisitScotland all over the page. Hmmmm.
  7. Why can't the supermarkets sell white goods or clothing? Is there a reason. I can't remember!
  8. "You can tell a man that boozes by the company he chooses," Then the pig got up and slowly walked away.
  9. From the website:- "£125m Westminster New Build Commences » CityWest Homes commences their New Community Build social housing development for Westminster City Council. dalzell projects led the preparation of the programme and successful Housing Corporation grant application process. This will deliver some 500 new homes for £125 million, right in the heart of the Capital."
  10. Is that before or after they have fainted at the price of the flights or ferry?
  11. I thought it made us out to look like we live in run-down croft houses, with a lifestyle of the 1950's, using outside bogs having just discovered electricity, etc. On day 1, of course, the pod of killer whales will pop by and why not enjoy some otter watching in the afternoon. Huh? The photography was stunning but I did find him rather cringeworthy - a sort of cross between Play School presenting style with a deranged grin.
  12. I would like to see an Annual Return for all the staff that run the Education Department too at Hayfield House with a job title, etc.
  13. I think animal manure helps to improve the soil. I wonder where they can find piles and piles of it locally then? Hmmmm..........
  14. Are you sure? http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e302/Frances144/_40961953_cassandra300-1.jpg
  15. I like the ones that have taken the initiative to come out and about to the halls. They are the best!
  16. I see your point but I think the windfarm, for example, has many different facets that are all relevant to the bigger picture. If folk just tag their posts onto the thread, the thread often goes off on a tangent and never returns to the previous topic. I don't know whether the Search function could be narrowed down to specific pages. I have never come across a forum where it does that.
  17. I realise housekeeping is important on any forum but I find these really long topics hard to follow and difficult to search through for any information. For example the windfarm topic is huge. There are lots of relevant facts and figures in there but all the information is piled into one enormous thread and really lost unless you trawl through page by page. Perhaps it might be an idea to consider having a Wind Farm section so that different threads and topics about the Wind Farm can be addressed rather than just all bunged together. The same goes for many other threads. Thanks Your good work is appreciated, as ever.
  18. I paid all my bills on the 12th December and posted them off and am now getting rude letters demanding money for unpaid invoices - I have two so now I am wondering whether this pile of post got lost somewhere. Is anyone else think their post has got lost at around this time? Cheers Frances PS One was a local bill and one was outwith Shetland. So far.
  19. I wish you had been around when I was giving birth 14 and 16 years ago! It would have been lovely to have had some female support. Good luck.
  20. I am having a lot of trouble seeing what point there is for this. I know art should not, by definition, have a point but this is just taking the piss especially in our financial and social climate imho.
  21. Out of interest, how much does it cost to use the facilities at the Isleburgh, ie to pay snooker, etc? Do you have to be a member or can anyone just go in and use the facilities?
  22. I have been lugging bales everywhere. Loading up the back of the Land Rover with silage and feeding the ponios. Getting them all fresh water. Picking out hooves (shod ones) full of ice. Then... researching my family tree. Absolutely fascinating. Gone back to 1600 on both sides now. I found a Mayor of London, a founder of The Edinburgh Mathematical Society as well as one I already knew about, Michael Faraday.
  23. We explained we needed a 2 in 1 scart plug to connect the dvd with the freeview into a two scart socket telly. We had to get three scart plugs into 2 scart sockets. The third was for the wii that went straight to the telly. When we connected it up - we either got sound and no picture or picture and no sound. We realise that this is rather a grey area. The lead was not faulty it just was not the type needed for that specific job. And, yes, we had explained in great detail what the set-up was before we purchased the scart lead/plug.
  24. It was from a branded company and had a bar code! It came in a sealed plastic bag with no obvious way of getting into it but ripping. I would presume they would check for bent pins or broken wires before selling it on, if that is what they decide to do with the item. It was a 2 to 1 scart plug.
