I've had sofas delivered so reckon they could do a freezer. Can't help with the recycling question though!

What Shetlandcars said. I've just checked and apparently you can also travel free on the service ferry if your ticket is from after 6pm the previous day.
-
You must have been in a commercial vehicle rather than a car. Cars are £13.30, and down to £8.70 with a 10 journey ticket. Either that or there were two other adults in the car. Afaiaa, travel on the unst ferry is free if you travel on the yell ferry on the same day (or the other way round perhaps), so the cost wouldn't double.

Does anyone know where liquid nitrogen can be sourced locally?

'Something I've observed even this year is passengers returning to their ship as early as 12.30am and whatever the reason it doesn't look good' Yeah, at that time of night they could at least have the decency to wait till the pubs close

Property, I clearly misunderstood.

Shetlandcars, indeed. Which is why they are offering both. Which is why I mentored both. And that's 2019. A long way short of the ten years suggested by crashbox.

Bigmouth, I know exactly which baker you are talking about. They used to label the ingredients saying it was chocolate. It wasn't. They did change it once it was pointed out, but it should not have had to be pointed out. I tend to avoid their products nowadays as a result.

I don't have the time to construct a suitable reply. I agree with some of what you say. If someone was indeed told that rape only happens to women, that is shocking and demonstrates total ignorance. I think there are valid reasons why fgm is seen as a more serious issue than circumcision (which in some cases is a medical necessity). But I agree that circumcision should be controlled too. I thought that women could now serve on the front line, but I may be wrong on that. Women's Aid was started by women, for women. No reason why men can't do the same, I'm sure they would get a lot of support. Both men and women face inequalities. Both sides can be guilty of being 'anti' the other. Wouldn't it be good if, instead of making it 'us and them' it was just all 'us' looking for a fairer world? I don't have the time to construct a suitable reply. I agree with some of what you say. Bigmouth are you assuming it is all male violence towards women? Why is that?

Personally I don't think 134 sounds high. Sadly. It's around the figure I'd expect. But 1 is 1 too many.

I'm not missing the negative side at all. I didn't refer to it, but I didn't need to, as you had already focused on that to the exclusion of the positive side. I'm merely restoring balance.

I think it's a good thing that people can report suspected violence and abuse without corroboration. If there is nothing going on then the people concerned have nothing to worry about. If there is something going on then hopefully the right support and help will be forthcoming. Bigmouth, is interesting that you pose the question yet do not answer it yourself. So what will you do?

This thread might shed some light on why some people prefer to avoid giving their money to him https://www.shetlink.com/index.php?/topic/419-anyone-boycotting-oslasmax/#

Maybe the cleaners go in late?

Personally I'd rather pay a bit more for a well-maintained ride with staff that are paying attention than pay less for something that's a bit dodgy with staff that couldn't care less. But maybe that's just me.

There have been fairs before and they have always proved popular. I'm not your target market, but I'm sure some of my family would want to go.

I am not making assumptions. My knowledge of how many UK shelters operate is based on actual experiences. Interesting to note that you say this 'If you can't make that sacrifice and try to actually work together with the rescue orga to ensure that the dog is placed with the right family and is not ending up being pushed from pillar to post than I am not surprised that rescues turn you down.' in regards to visiting rescue centres, and yet didn't visit one yourself. And if you can't see the personal attack you made then I can't help you. My post was not an attack on UK rescue centres as you seem to think. They do a very good job, mostly. They can put on whatever restrictions they choose. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. But if people find it easier to get a dog (quote possibly previously owned by a brit who has abandoned the dog"in Spain , that hapoens way too often), then I can understand why they go down that route.
-
as that's an incredible judgement you have made without knowing me or my circumstances. 1) I fully understand why rescue centres have checks in place. It may be that some rescue centres are more zealous than others and maybe you are fortunate to use a rescue with less onerous requirements but I know of people that have not been able to afford multiple visits (and I'm not just speaking about money, time is also a factor) to the mainland in order to adopt a rescue dog (including someone that visited Spain on order to make sure the dog get are considering was the right one for them). Oh, and 'near impossible' does not mean it isn't possible. Just for your future reference. 2) you have made a massive leap to suggest that I have been turned down by rescues. You are clearly reading between the lines to manage to get information that simply isn't there and isn't true. I have not been turned down by any rescue organisation. But why let facts get in the way when you can attempt a personal attack, huh?
-
While it makes sense on the mainland to go to UK dog rescue centres, if you already have a dog many make it near impossible to adopt from them if you are not in the mainland - no matter how experienced a dog owner you are. I can see why people choose the more accessible, Spanish rescue, option, ridiculous as it may seem. So while I agree with you in principle, I would certainly consider a Spanish rescue over a British one because spending 3, 4 6 or 8 weeks on the mainland getting to know a dog first with regular visits is just not feasible.

Pleepsie I didn't say your post was confusing. I said it was confused. And you brought up stealing. Unless you were using the term 'pinch' to mean squeeze. If you didn't think that was what happened, why bring it up? But hey, you clearly don't have a huge issue with the photo being posted. If you did, you wouldn't be spreading it further by posting the link.
-
Your post is confused. You seem to be implying that the woman may have stolen something, yet you say there is nothing worth stealing. You seem to be saying that the shop is in the wrong for posting her picture despite saying that it implies the woman has done wrong. People complain about local prices, and yet you are criticising a potential attempt to keep prices lower by reducing theft. And you seem to have discounted the possibility that maybe she left something in the shop that they are trying to return. So what I'm getting from your thread is 'I don't like home furnishing, so I'm going to criticise them even without knowing the full story'. I'll admit to being surprised when it popped up on my news feed, as it's the first time I've seen something like that from a Shetland shop. But why shouldn't a shop owner try and safeguard their property? It's tough times for traders in Lerwick. Footfall is down, costs are always going up (more so now with the poor exchange rate). They have a big shop to cover the costs of. So actually it's more surprising that we haven't seen this kind of thing before now.

It's an odd thing to say that something is overprovided. If there isn't enough demand, people will supply less. If there isn't enough supply - well, the people they are trying to target will find other ways, such as making their own, potentially more deadly, alcohol, or drinking products that aren't meant to be consumed in that way, so any under supply would potentially be more harmful to the people they are targeting as well as affecting the majority of people that don't drink to excess.
