  1. Yes, there is a lot of racism in Shetland - more worrying to me personally than the "I only said cos I was drunk" culture is perhaps the blatant ignorance of what actually IS a racist term, for example are any of you going out this week for a chinky because you're black fantin?
  2. But back on topic - I doubt the Marlex would be your best bet, plus I would imagine they would be showing the game anyway... Thule has sky as well, but its no the easiest tv to watch.
  3. To be fair though - Would you willingly sit in the big P when you didn't have to? I'd be wanting a tetanus first to watch the fitbaa in there!!!
  4. IRONY!! Not that I'm suggesting you're slagging anyone Biglad, just that I doubt that's the name on your birth certificate.. Fair point though...
  5. I seem to mind a couple o Shetlanders doing that last year as well... Just saying.
  6. Seems our local rags are going the same way as the tabloids again, would they be so quick to make the address public if it were 2 Shetanders up to no good - I think not. Typical press, there are plenty of people who have hoved in the south mooth that are perfectly fine, the same way as there as plenty of Shetlanders who you would quite happily see off on the North boat never to return from her majestys pleasure. Innocent until proven guilty - no matter where you hail from!!! And to be more to the point, there isn't a place on earth you can go without meeting either an immigrant Shetlander, or a descendant from one - think how boring (and inbred Shetland would be if there was no integration with others?!!
  7. Sorry if someone has already asked this, but does anyone know who Yodel uses as 3rd party carrier up here - I ordered a laptop from Currys/pc world, and they are the delivery agent they use before it gets to Aberdeen, but never heard of them before, so unsure who gets it from Aberdeen? Also, New look quite often (not always) do free delivery up here - even if its not I think its just 2.99 regardless of order size... Simply be/jacamo/the brilliant gifshop.com (all same parent company) deliver through Hermes/streamline.
  8. Likely the council wanting to give everyone a chance to see them incase they blow down this year...
  9. Nah, it's no officially Christmas until SIBC start blasting this... http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_uri=%2F&gl=GB#/watch?v=IXJ36-y5bjg
  10. I mind een o my friends from school eating a forky tail years ago cos it was hiding in a box o raisins... Gadge... it wisna me, but I didna eat a raisin for years efter dat!!!
  11. Then in fact, the only thing the Garrison really are guilty of is not advising about film suitability. Hardly a discrimination case if you ask me. But of course, by all means, all people should be valued and treated the same as you wish to be treated yourselves, and quite pleased to see the mods have edited the name off this, as I am sure that the "naming and shaming" attempted here could also be seen as discrimination... Each to their own though.
  12. That is a different kettle of fish then. I was just guessing it was HP from what a Previous post said, I haven't been to a film in the garrison for years, so I had no idea what was showing...
  13. Not guilty. Good book though. It'll be worth the wait!!
  14. If it was Harry Potter you went to see, why would you take a 3 year old in the first place? It's rated as a 12A for a reason. I have a 3 year old child, I wouldn't DREAM of taking them to see a film of that rating. Making a lot of noise is par for the course with a child that age - disabled or not, but i would certainly expect the same thing to happen to me if I was stupid enough to take my child to a film like that. I'm 100% positive that if it was a toddler appropriate film, the staff would have been more understanding of any noise being made. Was there any other toddlers in the audience?!! Positive discrimination is favouring someone purely on merit of their disability/race, it isn't a good thing. It would lead to just what you do not want for your son. I would like to see everyone treated as equals, but I do not want to live in an Orwellian situation where some are more equal than others.
  15. That's bad enough, but the one that really annoys me is the tescos disabled parking as half the time, the door on that side is locked, or the spaces nearest to the shop are used as some sort of crazy free for all over-spill for the trolley dump.... Not that I need to use it, but I have a few friends with mobility problems who do, and it just makes it that bit harder for them.
  16. Yeah, its the English couple who own it, but it is ok to go for a look around, just beware the roof as it looks about to cave in!!! I don't think they'd be able to renovate it now, its too far gone I would think...
  17. The burravoe hall discos always used to finish with old lang syne then go into a Boston two-step... Maybe just showing my age there, but it was always good for a laugh at the end of a disco!!!
  18. ^^ I understand that. I just don't get her original post? If she isn't actually involved in the shall we say more "militant" part of operations, why hint you and 2 others are, when all they probably are up to is looking up manga at home?!!! But I agree, fair play to them... Doubt they've got the right guy, but I hope the real gang haven't set him up deliberately... :/
  19. So, forgive my ignorance then, but does that mean you're calling yourself an "anon" to look cool on a public forum?
  20. No so "anon" now though.... Unless you're being tongue in cheek of course... Bear in mind, brag was a good dog, but he got shot.
  21. Typical. The gig last night was fantastic apart from the weather, alll 4 bands on the bill were brilliant, and all folk can do is bitch about no being able to get to the bar... Seemed to me like there was plenty of folk we drinks in hand, and plenty more who needed no more anyway! Should have stuck to the coffee!
  22. Just wanted to send thoughts and condolences to all affected by the events in Norway. xx
  23. Can't have a meal without desert... :$ http://www.who-sucks.com/food/101-frightening-ice-cream-flavors-from-around-the-world
  24. Well.... I don't know if this canned "food" is better or worse, but... http://www.geekosystem.com/candwich-buyable/
  25. The Lerwick hotel is definately better than the Shetland!!! Last time we went to the Queens (admittedly was 2 years ago), the glasses were stuck to the tablecloth and dusty!!! yuck! The Kveldsro can be hit and miss - the food is generally not too bad, but the staff can be anything between downright rude, and too friendly, if thats possible!! Best place for a takeaway is definately a roll from Slotties on a saturday afternoon... mmmm Cures all known alcohol related problems, as long as you remember to get there before the grills are switched of!!!
