Do you think if we asked nicely, Norway would let us come and play with them instead?

If you choose just this one issue to focus on when deciding on a candidate, you stand a very good chance of choosing a candidate that you disagree with on issues that they have much more say in. So maybe it is a good thing they all agree - it means people might pay attention to the the issues that the elected representative will actually have a say in.

Voting on the basis of the EU referendum is very short sighted.

Heavens above folks, are you unable to differentiate between fictitious drama and reality? Of course its a bit disconcerting, and highly amusing, to see the way the whole thing is edited together but the endless stream of daft comments i've seen on here and other media since it aired is worrying!

Did you also notice in the closing credits 'All places and locations are fictitious'?

If you want to watch a documentary on Shetland look elsewhere. If on the other hand you want a fictitious crime drama then watch the series.

Who said it's everywhere? I have yet to see you back up your claims with ANYTHING even close to evidence.

If you are taking what I said to mean it's everywhere you are misinterpreting what I said. Effectively I said it MAY be more visible. Not that it is everywhere.

'Parents are even supplying the drink'. Uhuh. Another unsubstantiated comment which you yourself admit is hearsay.

Just WHAT are you hoping to achieve with this thread?

I'm not justifying it - but I have yet to see any evidence that the perception that you have is any way close to the truth.

I don't see parents actively encouraging their children to get drunk. The parent of teenagers that I know allow their kids some drink for occasions, but actively encourage them to drink sensibly. I know more than one parent to have been really pissed off with their teenager that drank way more than they should have.

My teenagers go out way less than I ever did at that age. We had country discos galore, not to mention heading out to the North Star and the Excelsior with fake id.

Maybe the difference is, id is harder to fake so the drinking is more likely to be in public? I don't know, but in my experience, there is less of a 'problem' now than there was when I was young.

But wotsit, you still haven't said where you are seeing all these drunk kids in public? I have to be curious as to why you are hanging around where they are...

'Don't go around actively encouraging this sort of behaviour in public'

OK 1) who is encouraging it?
    2) what behaviour?

Blame the parents all you like, I don't know about you though, but I lied to my parents. 'No, I'm not going to the cross for new year, I'm going to a party'. And who can remembers da fort at midsummer? Anyone complaining about 'kids now' did not experience 'kids then'.

So wotsit, where are you seeing all this underage drinking in public? How often? How many kids? What is the behaviour that you find an issue? What are you doing to address the issue, other than having a pleepse online?

I'll do my best to briefly address some of the concerns raised here, but there's not much to add that hasn't been covered in considerable detail in previous posts dating back a number of years.

Re: parking. I'm not aware of any issues or complaints about parking. Personally, I often come and go several times a day and I've been at the majority of events there but there's only been a handful of times that I haven't found a parking space in the main car park. Each time there's been plenty of alternative spaces at the museum, SIC offices or North Ness car parks.

Re: soundproofing effectiveness. The sound systems in the cinemas and auditorium have been extensively tested and the Sound Pressure Levels have been pushed to extremes with no problems whatsoever, neither internally nor externally. I'm not aware of any complaints from neighbours or customers either.

Re: soundproofing design. In essence the auditorium and cinema are physically decoupled as much as is practically possible from the the rest of the building (like boxes within a box), combined with standard treatments such as heavy airtight double doors and absorbent wall materials. The design has proven to be more than up to the job.

Re: the rake of the cinema seating. The rake is indeed steep, but that's the nature of cinema design and Mareel isn't unusual. There's access from the top and bottom of the rake, and there's the option of the smaller second screen if folk prefer. The Front of House staff are happy to help anyone with mobility issues.

If folk have concerns, complaints or suggestions then please do get in touch with Shetland Arts and we'll do our best to help (admin@shetlandarts.org / 01595 743 843). We're always looking at ways to improve what we do so we'd be delighted to hear from folk.

In the meantime, let's try to keep this discussion polite and good natured

I had problems with a poor 02 signal at the house and installed a signal booster, which will boost 02 Vodafone etc. my 02 signal went from 0-1 Bars to a full 5 bars throughout the house. Vodafone went from 2-3 to a full 5 bars.

As long as you can get some signal, even outside the property, the booster should strengthen it inside.

They must have fixed something as the service has not been a problem since March. Although instant messaging took 6 hours from sending to arriving yesterday. So much for technology

'Fuss about nothing' springs to mind. The chips will be well and truly bedded in or swept off within a week. It's a busy road, and it's already nearly free of chips.
