I can see all the care centres closing down and the clients being sent home to their families, that would solve the financial problem. Would they be happy then?

They are cutting some staffs hours and increasing others, and some have taken voluntary redundancy .Something has to suffer, probably the residents

The Thule and Grand have live games, and I think The Marlex and Captain Flints. Also the new bar at the Shetland Hotel has recentlt put in a big screen and changed it's name to Beltrammis Sports Bar.

What I cant understand is that the management thought the unions shift pattern was unworkable ,saying that the handover times couldn't work, WTF! Who knows better about handover times then the staff themselves.

Boker-Ingram says he has consulted with staff, to my knowledge he hasn't yet. And if he did he isn't listening to them.Well said Concerned Shetlander.

How can Simon Boker-Ingram or what ever his name is totally ignore the wishes of 85% of staff? He has totally ignored their opinion on staff rotas and done what he wants.

They have had some workers staying for a couple of weeks, maybe more come now??

The first thing ferry passengers coming to Shetland used to see was the Malakoffs rusty old dry dock, but it created work and took money into Shetland so we didn't get the same complaints .

There are fairly regular buses to Sumburgh airport, from there it is easy to walk to Jarlshof,Sumburgh Lighthouse and other great sites at the Ness. Sumburgh Hotel do nice bar lunches. They can also get off the bus further North and visit St.Ninians Isle. -
Intercounty is in Shetland on the 27th.July.

You should speak to Douglas Sinclair, he does the tours of hidden Lerwick. -
A few shop keepers have said that they make far more money from visiting yachts than they do from any cruise liners. Sadly the vast majority of cruise passengers just want a quick look around and tick the box, and go.

There used to be a club for them at Clickimin Loch, not sure if it's still on the go.

Cheese factory at Skeld welcomes visits, also Hoswick Tearooms are worth a visit in Sandwick. Jarlshof is a great day out with the personal audio guides, and up to the puffins at the lighthouse.
