  1. I am so attracted to christianity when it shows so much love and tolerance..(insert sarcasm emoticon) So your MP did not vote how you instructed...cough..asked,him to. As far as I am aware the MP`s were left to vote according to their conscience, and even so we live in a democracy...so someone has to lose. You do realise,i could equally threaten Alistair Carmichael with the complete inverse of your letter (pun intended...and no threat intended!!)since my views are the exact opposite of yours...so what's an MP to do?...vote according his conscience i guess! The churches (again,as far as I know) will be protected against being forced to marry same sex couples,if they choose not to. So please don`t try to stir up "christian persecution" nonsense....or i will have to get my lions out again. I only consider myself a militant atheist, when christians persist in trying to interfere with secular life....apart from that,i don`t care what you believe.
  2. i don`t think he is trying to ruin the sale, unless you are from a crofting area,it can be hard to understand the regulations of common grazing. its a good idea to do research before buying a property especially an essentially agricultural property.
  3. I think the rant was mostly to bring up the "Freeman" nonsense...still even if he is not popcorn...i will fetch some ,to sit and watch the fun!!
  4. can`t help you re 3 network. i can tell you,i have two phones, one on vodafone, one on o2...and the vodafone one gets a signal more places than the o2 one.
  5. we have been off and on all day...anyone else ?...i am in ollaberry
  6. I have shared this thread onto facebook. some lovely ideas here...I for one would like to see more grass/sedum etc roofed houses....please keep posting, thanks
  7. i went to Mareel last night. i too,was disappointed in the building. it could have been anywhere...just a municipal building. just putting Shetland words on the wall,is not enough to give it a unique feel. I think the museum, for instance, has achieved this much better. some poor design issues, the folk coming out of screen 2,have to come through those queueing for screen 1. it was not so bad last night,as there was only a handful of people exiting screen 2,but it could end up a bit of a mess,if there are larger crowds. i thought it was drab and sterile. The cinema experience was good...loud...but that's probably just me!
  8. I have sent you a private message.
  9. can anyone attend the meeting with BT tomorrow?
  10. Esme (link in post above) made me a personalised piece...i described what i wanted, and she got it spot on. I would highly recommend her work.

  13. yes that is morag grey/gray she is lovely.
  14. home schooled children are no different than other children....that is...all children are different from each other. Some are out going, some are shy..some are in-between. The other point i would like to make is that school is the only place that we are expected to hang out with a narrow age range of peers. As an adult, my friends are of all ages..peers are the people you like to be with..not just those of the same age. People may be "strange" or unsocial..but its not a product of HS per say.
  15. Hi,we home schooled our daughter. she has now left home and is working. please feel free to private message me,if you want to chat. There are at least 3 families HS here up in the North..there were others but their children are grown up now. Not all that has been quoted in other posts is true, but if you take advice from the set up organisations they will set you straight. We found the SIC to be very reasonable with HSers, and we allowed visits...but you don`t have to allow them. Again we found the HS officer, understanding and helpful. She does now arrange social activities for HS families. Forget the oft quoted idea that HSers don`t get to socialise...we have found the opposite to be true...stopping her socialising was the problem..ha ha You do not have to "prove" anything..the guidelines say a child has to be educated according to their needs, skills and abilities. (i am not quoting the act ,just giving you the rough idea) Again the HS organisations will advise you. you do not have to follow any curriculum either..how you choose to educate is up to you..we for instance were semi formal, having a set day etc...or we have friends who use a bought in curriculum, and others who used total child led education. We were able to follow our childs interests,as we went along..she did Latin, philosophy and psychology for example. After a time spent abroad,my daughter decided to try school, she had to attend school in France and switzerland,as we were unable to teach fluently in French. She managed about 6 months before the headteacher advised flexi-schooling,as her education was way ahead of her peer group. So we did this for a while, she then tried the first year at high school....and came out of the system as it did not suit her. We had to request de-registration then, but we pulled her out before permission was granted...because,we had educated her before, and we saw no point in her sitting out 6 weeks being bored and unhappy.
  16. as the title say...why oh why can we not have a report spam/abuse button. Sorry if this has been answered before...but google will not let me search the forums (for some strange reason)

    Co-op

i agree malcolm. we went in on Thursday, and when we came out,my daughter and I had the same thought....that with the music, empty aisles and lack of staff enthusiasm,it was like a film set, where the scene is set to show the empty, useless life of a character.
  18. I find they seem to come in batches..lots of a week, then none at all for several weeks. if I have time I play them along...45 mins is my best score...but if I am busy I say yes I`ll turn my computer on,then leave the phone on the side until they give up.
  19. we have just had Heatwise in to do internal insulation. They have done a very good job. They were friendly, polite, helpful and tidy. Some insulation that my husband had put in previously, they pointed out left no air gap (this was against the roof) if they hadn`t come along to upgrade,we might have had condensation problems. Yes,you do have to chase them up to start the job...they have work coming out of their ears. We can highly recommend them.
  20. my husband says.. you need an adjustable link, you need to be able to set the length of the link while ploughing,to adjust whether it is digging in or coming out of the ground. don`t know if thats any help..if no,you might want to ring and chat with him..pm me if you do.
