  1. as a parent from scalloway who has already dealt with a school closure i urge all parents to dig their heels in and fight tooth and nail to keep your schools open! my daughters have been moved to the lerwick high school and since this happened my 2nd year daughters education has failed dramatically! the school is not fit for the purpose its supposed to be! the teachers cannot handle the quantity of children being forced through the doors. its not only the school that is the problem but the transport to get there aswell! there arent enough buses to cope with the huge quantity of children and my neice couldnt get a seat on the bus one morning and had to sit on someones knee, which is completely unacceptable! this has had a knock on effect with the transport to the primary school asweel and my youngest daughter also had to sit on someones knee as there wasn't enough seats. how is Shetland ment to improve when the S.I.C seems hell bent on sacrificing our childrens education and closing more schools to cover the cost of their mistakes?? todays children are shetlands future and without adequate education Shetland is doomed!!!
  2. we got the cavity walls filled 2 years ago and our house is really cosy ! we now save a fortune on our heating bill! the heatwise boys did a brilliant job and left the house clean, tidy and just as it was before. thoroughly reccommend Heatwise and getting the cavity wall filled.
  3. The best bit of advice I was given about bein a parent was to never have a short memory ! I think most of the people complaining about the bairns being bad should think back to what they used go get up to when they were young then decide if the bairns are actually being bad or just being bairns? Everything is far more publicised nowadays with the likes of facebook, mobile phones and u tube so more people can see and hear what you have been up to where as years ago it was easier hidden. I have 5 bairns and I actually find alot of Oaps to be less courteous and more aggressive than the majority of the bairns of today! Let's not forget the Toonie / Scalloway divide that used to end up in fights and destruction. At least todays bairns manage to mix and get on well with others throughout Shetland and beyond. Yes there maybe a few bad eggs among them but has that not always been thecase throughout the years?? I hardly think that gives folk the right to tar all bairns with the same brush!
  4. i never said it was his fault, i think tho if its advertised as over 16 then maybe Clickimin should have had more sense than to let bairns who are obviously younger!
  5. i really enjoyed seeing him and laughed till my jaws ached. on the downside though the bar ran out of drink and shut before the first interval. when the tickets went on sale (if i remember correctly) it was advertised for over 16 but there was lots of under 16 there and i thought some of the humour was innappropriate for them.
  6. does lerwick really need 2 primary schools?? leave scalloway secondry department open n combine the 2 lerwick primarys surely dat will save money all da bairns are already in da toon so extra buses widna be needed.
  7. if people are willing to pay over the odds prices for the tickets then surely its up to them?
  8. the coils are to make them more visable to birds so they dont fly into them (i think)
  9. I also think that the tickets were reasonably priced but there was just not enough! surely there is somewhere larger that could hold more people therefor solving lots of problems!!
  10. I had so much hassle with the website today. I got as far as getting everything in my basket, then when I went to pay it crashed. Then I couldn't get back in because it was busy. When I eventually got back in, it told me that my tickets had been reallocated because they had been in my basket too long (which was wrong - there was still another half an hour before it should have expired). Then I got as far as entering my credit card details and it seemed to process the payment, but then I got a message saying there was a problem with the basket. Eventually I lost out on the Levellers tickets which I'm so annoyed about, and I have a horrible feeling I will have ended up with twice the number of Bjorn Again ones than I need! Will have to check the credit card statement when it comes![/quote we had exactly the same problem with trying to buy them online and were told we had lost our tickets so we phoned Islesburgh to complain bitterly only to be told that we HAD three tickets which we had already paid for online! WHAT A SHAMBLES O S**T! how many others have bought tickets and have been told they've not?? it will be a nice surprise for them when their tickets arrive!
  11. Folk with no manners really cheese me off, especially shop assistants!! People appreciate a please and thank you! I've drummed it into my kids that bein polite is good and manners cost nothing!!!
