  1. I think its a great idea, the money wasted in mareel is not nhs money its local council money so it wont make any odds on this situation. new hospitail location? parhaps where the powerstation is now? when they move to the new powerstation that land should come clear. then perhaps 2nd council building where the gbh is now. The council can make hayfeid house into the new school hostel . The current hospitail building should be enough to house all the other departments not in the new white house. Then the council could either move the toon hall offices there, the libuary, islesburgh, the list is endless. then move bells brae school into the good bits of the anderson high. with added new links. that could either house all primary school kids in lerwick?
  2. just phone the vet! orthe kennels, the dog should pass through them sometime.
  3. you should phone mareel 74 5500 and tell them, then they might be able to fix it, if they cant then phone islesburgh 74 5555 they might. I'm suprised you wanted to go this week, its mostly repeats! I've given up looking now
  4. i heard him he sounded quite good, they are puting a lot on this new staff coming. shame the managment/trustees above havent managed to sort stuff out. so good luck to them
  5. yes it is a general statment - sorry about that, i meen you dont get fat running about, but you do sitting on you backside. Both venues stimulate the brain. i know that.
  6. Yes your right they are 8, next to schools mostly which saved they council puting that facilitys into the actual school. and the gen public can use them too, where if it had been in the schools then they possibily wouldnt. the old thing about 'what about them?' comes up now and again. Thing is 2 wrongs dont make a right. so no point pointing at the srt. srt is for folk to run swim etc about - keeping them physicaily and mentealy healthy, where a cinema and consert venue makes them sit on their bottoms - filling their face with food and drink - ie not physicail in anyway, infact it will make them fat. Then fat folk need more NHS when it all comes too much. So you will never win aginst a venue that makes you thin aginst a venue that could make you fat.
  7. here here. I cant beleive I've read such vile comments from a Christian??? shame on them. I'm sure if jesus was here he wouldnt think much of such hatret coming from one of his followers.
  8. totaly agree, i was along the other day and on the entire strech they were only 3 cars there, hardly a rush of residents. I think the guy on the radio can't have much to do that hes bothering folk on where they sell their cars, bet hes the guy thinking up all the daft fat pavments that seen to be sticking out into the middle of some of the toon roads too. I think the council might have too many folk in that office
  9. if hmv cant cope what chance would clives with the minimual stock on offer. i can spend almose a whole day in there
  10. i think the idea is the man plans everything, the bride gets no choises at all. Good if he gets it right, bad news if he gets it wrong!
  11. yes phone Louise Peet Phone Number: 020 7449 3240 Email Address: dttb@applyfortheshow.com’
  12. I have no problem with folk nipping that way to go to the PO, the faster we can get in and out the better in my book! Where cars in the bank/boots road do bug me as we can get in the other way. no cars should be in past the cross One thing they would be better is to police the short term parking spaces, thats the thing that bugs me the most when you need to nip to the street for one thing, you can never get into any short term spot. its full all day with the same cars, completely hogging it for either shop staff or residents in the area. The council, shop owners and the cops would and should be trying to get as many folk to the street and be falling over themselves to make life easy for us to shop there. where the seem to be hell bent in making life as hard as they can for their shoppers. the harder they make it the more folk wont shop there and they will all close in time.
  13. yes tuesday and wednesdays colection was being colected 2 dates late, quite accetable i think, not sure if the guy with the perrie road sweeper needed to be out today as well. no-one gets double time in the council now, i think that was scrapped under single status. most employes get time off on liue now or i think its time and a third but im not sure apart from xmas day etc. but ill seay stand corected.
  14. Yes i see they have fairly hocked up the prices of the gold and silver cards for the pleasure of it too, they announced the changes on facebook and got a barage of complaints. (well apart from the fan, we can do anything crowd) It's a very fine line setting prices without pricing yourself out of the market. Having to fork out, up front, nearly £300 will knock a lot of folk out of the market, just think how many DVD's you could buy for the same money, going thats we only waite a couple of months for them, or even a blockbuster/love film rental contract for the same money and thats right to your door.
  15. I didnt know that, thanks. so they belong to a private firm then. so the airport would need to have an aragment with the sbs first to 'borrow' them? As the airport is a privately owned (i think) its good that all the staff mucked in for the better good to everyone.
  16. its only sea cargo when it gets on a boat. the owner changed his mind and took it off the sea and put it to air and as its their cargo they can do what they want. As all the dockers are employees of the LPA they could have lost their jobs for working for someone else. or they could have flown up the Aberdeen dockers as its them that touches it first? persuming their employers agreed to release them to work else where too.
  17. Totaly disagree with you there, what hapens at the airports have nothing to do with the dockers in lerwick, the same as im sure if something happend to the flights and they bussed the airport staff to carry bags of the boats. why would they get extra money for doing their normal working hours? plus id thought they are employed by the Lerwick Port A. and they would only do that if their employer agreed with the airport managment to lend them their staff.
  18. is BT working ok today, ive been off all day, on one phone call they said there was a fault and the next they said they werent. i was'nt convinsed they kent anything!
  19. Maybe if the boat wasna that expencive for cabins then more folk would have more shorter trips. i only go on the boat when i need to take my car. with that and cabins its a fortune to get to aberdeen, and beyond. Make it cheaper then i would go more often, at the end of the day they would get more of my money in the long run. More folk they get on the boat the better as most will have food or drink, but they need to be there to get their money in the first place.
  20. after reading about the tax, then, they are always hmv online and other uk based pages that pay their taxes. Im sure if i was loaded and my advisiors said 'you know if you did this leagle thing you wont pay as much tax' im sure i and we all would do it. what we need is the laws to be changed to stop the fat cats stashing their money elsewhere, and if they say they will pull out of the uk, then im sure they are plenty other folk/firms wanting to take their sales off them.
  21. play.com, Game and amazon fill the gap just fine for me. So neither clives or tescos being there make no odds to me, infact if you pre order in plenty time they goods drop on the door mat on the day it comes out. only shop I'm missing is swansons, need batteries for watch etc and ofcourse for pressies.
  22. The essy kert is just running 2 days late, as it has done for years, they are plenty time for them to tell us, and for the sake of 2 weeks would it matter if we stored our rubish for that time. The 'SIC' is not some god above us all, its just normal folk like you and me. So, yes they know its christmas as everyone 'in' the sic is off work for christmas like the rest of us. I'm sure in the 2 shetland times from the start if this fourm all will be explined. like they have done for the past few decades Why the libuary has opened is byond me - don't they have the 2 weeks shut down like the rest of the council? Can you not take enough books to last you 2 weeks? you got nout else to do? I know social work (poss housing) usualy do an emergance number if folk need assistance outwith office times so the folk that need help get help. As with the shops, folk seem to be buying food for the next month, when the shops are only closed 2 days
  23. do i read that right that the CE department has made no savings?
  24. I think the previous 2 posters are dead right. the present owner and the owners from the late 70/80's have not done much as development, they just churned out the same things day in day out, even when one broke away he made an ass if the too. I wish they looked at the family bakery's on the mainland and they would learn what they make there. If they only moved with the times, invested in the shops and developed the range on items they made, then make enough of them, sometimes you can go in at 9 am and they are selt oot. Good luck to all of the staff. I hope they training and investment in you by your employer gets you a good job elsewhere. I know several ex employees and invettment in the staff didn't happen much in the last 30 years, Although i don't know the present situation.
