  1. ye she has a lady and a dog called Roo follow her in a camper and she also has radio contact with her at all times. i have to admit to being curious too, so stopping to pick her up wasnt hard. lol she really is just a nice person, theres nothing strange about her at all.
  2. I picked her up yesterday and have to say she was a nice, pleasant, intelligent woman. I even told her that there was a thread about her on here , and she said she would check it out and she surely did last night . she was saying to me how friendly she has found the residents of shetland to be , though what she's thinking now having read this i dont know. this may be a waste of money in some peoples opinions, but lets face it, the government and the councils waste money on a lot of things . so if the white wife thing is a waste of money, then i for one am happy to see money being wasted on something as quirky and fun as this. At the end of the day though... is it really worth all the insults and mud slinging? if shes read some of these latest posts, then she's probably trying to hitch a lift off a passing dolphin back to the mainland as we speak!!
  3. well done you! there will be no stopping you now!
  4. I unknowingly smuggled my little dog onto a bus a couple of years back..... As it was a cold, windy day he was wearing one of his little coats. a suede effect one with a fur-trimmed hood, as i picked him up to get on the bus the wind blew the hood up, i paid the fare then went and sat down, with him sitting on my knee, lapping up the attention he was getting off a couple of people, it was only a short trip and as i got off the bus, the driver told me dogs weren't allowed on buses. As i puzzled about why he hadn't told me at the start of the journey, it dawned on me that because the hood was up and the dog had his head look over my shoulder the driver must of thought i was carrying a baby!! Maybe vets should have a list of people with transport who would be willing to take people without transport to the vets for the cost of the fuel, i for one would be willing to do so.
  5. ^^^^^^ they could put the wind turbine on his/her cap! or it could be an led wind-up one. have to admit im like you and not impressed with all the pomp and ceremony, tho if others enjoy it fine but i for one wont be jumping up and down with joy.
  6. hi, petur peterson 01595 694843 or terry smith 01595 859926. i had most of my lessons with petur, great guy with a sense of humour and really good instructer, then while petur was away just before my test he arranged for me to have a lesson with terry, again great guy good instructer, both good confidence givers and happy for me to do it my own car, which again made a big difference.
  7. Though I know you meant well and it seems like sensible advice, it is sometimes best to do your own research (like the link supplied) as unfortunatelty some members of the "relevant authorities" are less than up to date with current legislation. have done already, tho found some of the "ifs and buts" on the internet a bit confusing so i resorted to the phone, and now know where i stand with it
  8. !*$& the relevant authorities. When was the last time there was any problem with someone towing a trailer around here. lol, depends on whos doing the towing!!!
  9. I would of thought that anybody (new driver or not) would of had the common sense to check with the relevant authorities first before getting a trailer, after all you never know who's hiding around the corner!
  10. pretty sure its open weds, thurs and sat 2-4
  11. i got both of my computers with avg ,if you phone them instead of doing it online you can get a good deal, i got two comps protected for two years for just under 60quid, with avg. and im more than happy with them and the service.
  12. I dont know how how true it is, but this was happening in n.wales to, they were moving people from the rough areas of some of the bigger city estates, one of the reasons i heard was that they were trying to split up people on certain housing estates in the hope of easing alot of the trouble on these estates, and not realising that they were basically just bringing trouble (drugs etc). to what was once a quiet area. and apparently the councils taking on some of these people were getting extra money for taking them. In their own daft well intentioned way they think that by giving addicts, alcoholics etc housing it would hopefully prevent them from going out offending, A lad who was a couple of years older than me, was an alcoholic at 18yrs old, and going out offending to get money for his drink... So they gave him a council house, disability benefits, housing and council tax benefits, plus extra money to buy drink with and also £25 a week extra to buy food for his dog, sadly he died 4yrs ago aged 42, but really speaking he no incentive to stop, they (the powers that be) killed him with kindness , i could understand them wanting to stop him committing crimes to get his drink, but instead of helping "fix" his problem it was easier to give him extra money and a council house so he had no need to offend, and why? because some "human rights" policy says you cant force help on a person, yet its ok to help a person end their life early by helping them get their "Fix" be it drugs or booze. Personally i think that if they insist on giving priority housing and disability benefits to addicts, it should come with conditions, as in they have to attend rehab programs and should do some sort of voluntary work until they are deemed strong enough mentally and physically to stand on their own two feet and find paid employment, but i believe thats an invasion of human rights. So im afraid no matter what you say or do,the councils etc will continue to keep giving these people top priority as in the their own bumbling tho well intentioned way, they think because someone has a job ,isnt an addict or constantly offending then they dont need the same level of assistance and dont have the "housing needs points" that addicts do.

  15. well now im driving i can make appoint of visiting alot of these spots once the days are longer i had to go to vementry house the other day for work, but having seen it i shall certainly be making a point of going there again when im not working, it wasnt easy driving on that narrow road when my eyes were all over the place, absolutely stunning, ive been to the guns and that again is stunning, what really makes them so special is that if they were on the mainland then there would be big fences around them and someone would be charging people a tenner to go and look at them from 5ft away never mind touch them!!
