  1. I notice nobody has posted on this thread for a while. Are O2 still the only providers of 3g in Shetland?
  2. I bought a haggis pizza and added anchovies to it. Fantastic!
  3. I worked for Tesco's recently and never saw this happening either. I would say the opposite was true. Far too much was binned with nothing wrong with it.
  4. I don't see what all the fuss is about Lidl. As much as I hate Tesco's, there products are of a far higher standard, usually at a cheaper price.
  5. A lot of drivers seem to forget that cars don't have exclusive rights to public roads. There are an incredible amount of idiotic drivers out there who seem to think that anyone not using an engine should get out of their way.
  6. What the #@%*!!!!!!!!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/from_our_own_correspondent/6734469.stm
  7. I disagree. TV is not compulsory, although many seem to think that it is!! It's a service that should be paid for by those that wish to use it if the current regime of funding continues. If someone can't afford the licence bin the TV and do something useful instead. TV is not compulsory, but I don't see why it shouldn't be free. I would say if u can't afford the licence and want to watch TV. Don't buy a licence. Who cares if it's against the law. Your not doing any harm. I think that the Beeb should get no funding and should get its funding through advertising revenue. That way the TV licence could be binned altogether. Definitely bin the TV licence. I don't have a problem with the BBC getting funding for programmes which would struggle to attract advertising though.
  8. The current licence fee is £135.50, £11.29 per month. That's too expensive for lots of people. I think funding should be dependent on income. It could come from income tax. I also think the BBC should get far less funding. They should only receive funding for programmes which commercial stations are not doing. i.e. new music, small audience sports, Radio 4. I bet most of their funding goes on things which would be shown free on other channels anyway. i.e. football, Jonathan Ross, I'm in the jungle dancing with a celebrity, day time Radio 1. They need to stop competing for viewers and listeners. If a BBC show gets loads of viewers then sell it to a commercial station.
  9. You could almost believe the lyrics to this song were written for Blair. Sadly it could also have been written for his successor. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muQRIUVd6Aw&mode=related&search=
  10. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/events/60sseason/documentaries/sgtpeppers.shtml I missed the programme on BB2 about this last night. Great idea for the anniversary. I think it was Q magazine which did something similar with the Revolver album last year.
  11. Spicy hash from the tattie shop in Lerwick was the biz. Don't think they do it any more.
  12. I think I remember something about the museum in Shetland not being secure enough to keep the treasure (That might have been an excuse to keep it in Edinburgh though). Is the new museum more secure?

  14. Not quite an unknown, but I always thought Jellyfish should have enjoyed far more success than they did.
  15. Because our communities are worth protecting. Protecting from what?
  16. This is true. I think the solution is to pay immigrants the same as a UK citizen. Not to stop people coming here. I don't see why we shouldn't give people from other countries equal opportunities. I would see a persons country of origin as irrelevant when employing.
  17. Afraid that didn't work for me either.
  18. I wish you wouldn't use the word 'we' so much. It suggests that you think your speaking for Shetland.
  19. That doesn't seem to be the case. I've tried with IE and firefox, both with the 'remember me' option checked and un-checked. It is telling me that I last visited on Fri May 18, 2007 1:44 pm, which is not true. All posts after that time are marked as unread. I've tried all of the above with the in_vacanza_test account and it says that I last visited on Tue May 15, 2007 7:33 pm. Again, not true. The strange thing with both accounts is that they do sometimes update.
  20. I think my cookie problems may be my fault. I always un-check the 'remember me' option. Seems to work fine if I leave it checked. I would rather not be logged in automatically when I visit Shetlink. Are cookies not going to be stored permanently unless I am?
  21. I heard the same, but about the UK. Scotland rising, England sinking.
