JustMe got a reaction from ETLerwick in Recycle! Positive Comments Welcome
Well it looks good and starting in a couple of areas to deal with teething problems sounds good. Council website has good information and I trust the information pack will contain the same information for those who do not have internet access at home. Well done Zero Waste Scotland and the SIC.

JustMe got a reaction from Tammychoink in Best Heating option in Shetland?
Of course if you have the chance to cut peats then they still offer the cheapest solution of all........peats and maybe driftwood.
Storage heaters have got better over the years and if a power cut happens when they are warm you still have heat for a good while.
Talking of power cuts remember that other heating systems often need electricity to provide ignition for the boiler and to pump hot water to the radiators.
Heat pumps?........I fear I know nothing about them except that they can save money.

JustMe got a reaction from Frances144 in Sleepout in Glasgow to try to end Homelessness
Nobody should need to sleep on the streets in the UK. Everyone needs some sort of safe secure home unless they really want to sleep on the Staney Hill.

Link says ""For detailed route specific data click any of the graphs"" and it works........well there is then another link to the actual data.

JustMe got a reaction from shetlandcars in Driving in Shetland
Actually the Highway Code more or less says that flashing lights is just meant to show that the vehicle is there and not to mean that the driver is going to give way. And indeed a flashing indicator means just one thing.........the bulb works. This I can vouch for having spent many years driving a vehicle where the indicators would only self cancel on one side.

JustMe got a reaction from sludgegulper in Flybe
Just a slight point........Flybe are not withdrawing from Shetland since Flybe have never flown to Shetland. All the Flybe branded flights have been provided by Loganair and more recently by Eastern Airways. I am sure some of the people based at the airport will argue if I am wrong but as far as I know not a single Flybe plane has ever landed at Sumburgh.

JustMe got a reaction from Frances144 in New Esplanade road layout
Chemists........two last time I looked. Harrys!. Post Office. All reasons to visit the street if the Fort chippy was not reason enough.

JustMe got a reaction from Roachmill in General Election 2017
The people of the UK were lied to about Brexit releasing funds for the and the possible side effects of leaving such as prices rising in the shops.......even beer going up.........was not properly explained to the voters. I think there are good grounds for a second referendum with the voters being told the truth.

JustMe got a reaction from George. in Lerwick Campsite
Not only for Summer School..........some universities rent out rooms to tourists and travellers (of any age) at really good prices. I am thinking of staying in a LSE hall of residence in London (central London at that) for about £35 a night including breakfast. If it works for them then why not for the AHS?.

JustMe got a reaction from lastpubrunner in Pubs in Shetland - children welcome ?
I did take a child of that sort of age into the Springers Bar in Baltasound a couple of years ago without problems but sadly most Shetland pubs are not exactly child friendly..

JustMe got a reaction from Suffererof1crankymofo in Driving in Shetland
Looked at the video a few times (including on full screen) and I am inclined to think that any blame for a chipped windscreen really lies with roads maintenance as it looks like any loose chippings came from a recent repair job.

JustMe got a reaction from Scorrie in Stuart Hill (Captain Calamity) Forvik
If that refers to the Scottish Independence Referendum surely the only choice was rule from Westminster or rule from Edinburgh. Independence for Shetland was not an option and indeed the ballot paper made no mention of rule from Norway or Denmark.

I find it interesting that all the courts so far have not been prepared to "test" his assertion that Shetland is not part of the UK and therefore their courts do not have jurisdiction here.

JustMe got a reaction from George. in 20 MPH speed limit in town
I am wondering how many of the injury accidents on the Esplanade are visitors from cruise liners or visiting yachts forgetting that the traffic in their home country drives on the other side of the road. Maybe the way to reduce accidents is to ban tourists rather than to lay speed humps.

JustMe got a reaction from Frances144 in Fly May-Be
I can certainly understand you worrying but while pilots might still take off if they do not things are 100% no pilot flying for any British airline would fly if they did not believe it was safe to do so. And for another reason not based on safety but simple costs no pilot would attempt a flight if he did not believe there was at least a reasonably good chance that the airport would be open for landing when they got there.
And that leads to another safety issue. If weather conditions were too bad or indeed if there was something wrong with the airport equipment the airport authorities would simply close the airport.
As for the Saab aircraft they are noisy and cramped but actually they fly rather well.

JustMe got a reaction from Acid in 16-17 year old voters
Hey Rasmie, leave my vote alone!. No reason for older people not to keep the vote unless they have lost their marbles in which case I would agree. What has retirement to do with it?.

JustMe got a reaction from BigMouth in Lerwick town centre
My aim if I win enough on the lottery is to hire some large but friendly guys, a lawyer to check that what we do is legal and then get them to walk up the street very very slowly blocking all illegal traffic but of course giving way to disabled badge holders although slightly reluctantly in some cases.
