  1. Easy advice mate... DONT! lol
  2. Dont get all in awe of the Shetland Islands brochures... trust me when you are out in the pissin rain and hurricanes.. you will wish that you had thrown the brochures in the bin and decided not to bother moving at all... Dont expect trees.. there are very few... seemingly the sheep eat them... thats probably because in the winter the parks are that weet that they reach for something dry.... If you like driving... great.. but alas the price of fuel up here... £1.21p a litre for diesel.. well.. you wont be driving a lot! Always take a change of clothes with you when you go out.. because guaranteed.. it might be sunny when you step out the door but by the time you have driven to the bottom of the road.. it will be pissin doon. I could go on all night... but alas.. I wont...
  3. yeah there are sportsbikes around.. I have seen quite a few.. its just getting to the weather where all bikes are put to bed till next season...
  4. I must say I am extremely pissed off as I was coming up the north road today and the police overtook me and went into the other lane and sprayed me with stone chips and chipped my bloody vehicle. OUT OF ORDER! They didnt have their blue lights on either...
  5. Dont know .. but poopin in it might!
  6. I had someone at the door that wanted to sell me jet wash things .. he had a silver van... and an irish accent...
  7. Whether it goes to a custodial sentence or not, they should never be allowed near animals ever... there is no excuse for what they did...
  8. Gracie has gone back to Orkney vets bill was astromomical and there was nothing they could do with her here..as not got proper facilities to operate. I will miss her.... Got new horse!
  9. I get the horse and hound every thursday and read that article... its crap how things can turn out.. something that can seem quite friendly like letting someone have a peerie ride on your horse can have catastrophic consequences. I have a new horse now and with him being 17.1hh not many folk could get on him anyway!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. @Frances144: You are probably right hun, shame but you are probably right!... just about says it all doesnt it! (*** mod edit - excess quoting removed ***)
  11. Probably best to put the sheep there, since they arent being groomed, ridden, patted, made a fuss off, etc...
  12. Whit sharn.. its a sport here like any other... I dont think reestit horse would go down too well.. and I am quite sure that somerfield could come up with the goodies when it comes to a bit of lamb!
  13. Nah I think that he is stuck at the under the goolies lift! And then he might get stuck at the belly lift!
  14. I think that it is about time equestrianism is taken seriously in shetland.. and I dont mean a wee patch of grass next to the clickimin.. at the end of the day, there are more and more horses coming here and it is getting as important as football, hockey, netball and all the other sports that are played here... it should be recognised as a sport and more provisions for grazing should be met... I have never seen a place so anal when it comes to allowing horses on land.. I would have had a nice house down culswick with nice stables and my life would have been peachy but could I get grazing... could I frack! sheep? and what joy do sheep bring? can children get hours of fun out of a sheep? and when it comes to "ruining fences" ... I have never seen a horse "ruin a fence" yet.. I have however seen sheep lean and lie against fences... fleece lying all over the place and the girse covered in sheep sharn.. aye... well if I ever get a croft.. or a piece of land, I know what I will be having on it! and if you want flowers... grow them in your garden... not in perfectly good parks that animals can graze on! And before anyone says it.. well there are plenty of shetland ponies... they are looked upon as "working the land" because they are being bred in most cases... so hence they are allowed on "croft land".... If I ever win the lottery.. I will build a big equestrian centre for all the people who are finding it tough to get grazing, quality riding, Riding for the disabled, christmas parties and fancy dress for the kids and facilities in a safe, atmosphere.. because quite frankly a peerie corner of a park at a roundabout.. its pathetic! whilst what does all the other sports get??? look at the clickimin.. at the facilities for every other sport.. and what does equestrianism get.. hmmmm ... not to mention the folk that complain that riders have to go on the roads.. well give them something better then... i.e. indoor school, outdoor all weather floodlit riding arenas.. they have it on the mainland... why not here.. ?
  15. Lol.. obviously you havent read my previous posts when I said that I dont ride my horse on the roads, infact I have only ridden my horse once, as she is only very young... I was talking about when I am in the jeep, driving.. you know like every other road tax, insurance paying person.....
  16. Yeah... I happen to agree... and the other thing that is bang out of order is when I stop in a passing place to let someone through from the opposite direction.. whoever is behind me DONT DRIVE PAST ME YOU IGNORANT turdES! oh I tell ya if there ever was a day for an accident to happen that would be it... its blind stupidity is what it is. I am waiting for one of them to cause an accident and I will be first there to make sure their ass is nailed to the block!
  17. Two standing stones at Sandsting, West Skeld were said to be two giants or two wizards, that were on their way to plunder the inhabitants of West Skeld. But the first rays of dawn caught them unawares and they were turned to stone.
  18. The only experience I have had is when you can see the skeletal structure... but thats it no organs ....
  19. I think it is something to do with crofters get paid not to have animals on the land at certain times of the year.....
  20. Recently I have heard that there is a problem with grazing horses in the culswick area due to some crofting legislation... anyone know anything about it?
  21. Yeah.. look there is faults on both sides ... cant tar every single biker with the same brush and the aggro attitude just makes things worse! yeah I was being sarcastic... but at the end of the day, its the same with horses, boy racers and bikers... regardless of what they have their ass on or their legs wrapped around they deserve respect like everyone else... just because one biker/horse rider or boy racer has pee'd ya off.. dont take it out on the rest and have a " I hate boy racers" ... "I hate bikers".. or "I hate horseriders"... attitude as it only exacerbates situations.. and causes accidents, and road rage.. I am sorry for the hassle you have had scrutineer... but jeez if I had that same attitude I would be going round smacking every taxi driver. I had a taxi driver.. that drove into me head on at 50mph and wasnt even looking my way, and he was driving on the wrong side of the road coming through a traffic calming island... looking at the pub to see if there was anyone wanting a lift... my mum was badly injured and my car was wrote off.. a year later my mum died... I dont go around hating taxi drivers.. I dare say there are good and bad ones like bad and good drivers/riders... Get over it mate...
  22. what a well thought out and helpful reply still to carry on the tradition of stereotypes..... what more could we expect from a biker and a horse rider!- usually the ones that jump up and down claiming everything is someone elses fault anyway "look everybody - I overtook a car at high speed on a blind crest and got knocked off ..... and its all the car drivers fault!" your representing two of the most selfcentered inconsiderate types of road users in one go there DSIII Ok... one I have never caused an accident... and two no I dont blame other folk when I make a mistake, I put my hand up and say sorry and carry on! and THREE... If I overtake a car at high speed on a blind crest I would make sure that I was on my back wheel so I can at least see over the crest and know if something is coming or not! And last but not least... what the hell is wrong with bikers? or indeed horseriders? I think there is more consideration and respect from car drivers needed .... A few of my mates have either been seriously injured or have died .. caused by cars... either folks opening their drivers doors and not checking to see what is coming and knocking them off their bikes, or taking off at a roundabout and forcing the bike of the road, or on slip roads to motorways... I think your reply was more unhelpful than mine and very narrowminded... I dare say mine cracked a smile in a few folks faces... and I must say..
