  1. I always think that you should only have to pay for what you consistently receive, i.e. if you are paying for 10Mb Broadband but consistently only receive 3Mb you should only pay 30% of your bill. Maybe a bit hard to implement but it would certainly be fairer if it could work!

I agree completely and have suggested dat tae dem a few times, but always get told dat dey dunna offer any packages lik dat!

  2. Mine is sittin at 1.9 - download, 0.35 upload, dat's whit I usually get.  Maybe do has a fault we de line or somethin? has do tried reporting it as a fault?

Yeah I've contacted dem a few times but never get anywhar we it, its just very up and doon, sometimes its really good, sometimes its terrible. getting brawly fed up we it noo!

  3. We hed wir first visit tae Mareel on friday night, very impressed wi everything. Excellent seats, da staff were more den helpful and polite. It wid be good when booking tickets, if you could see a floor plan, an choose your seats, but apart fae dat we couldna fault it. 4. I have Netgear HDX101 powerline adapters in my house, and they work great for me. Never had any problems at all, just plug in and go. I also have surge protectors on my electrical appliances, but because I plug my HDX101's straight into the wall, interference has never been an issue. I got mine pretty cheap off the internet, and have had them quite a few years now. I believe there are newer/faster models out now, but these ones have always done the job for me.

  5. I'm having some trouble with a mixer and monitor setup. I have a small Alesis 8 channel mixer.

Into the stereo IN channel, I have drums. Into the other stereo IN channel I have guitar. I also have various other mono inputs, bass, guitars, keyboard and mics.

Years ago, I bought two Wharfedale SVP-12PM Wedge Monitors (Active)

As I'm recording via USB I've tried the monitor in both the Main Mix OUT and also the Control Room OUT but I'm having problems.

The monitors have some sort of overload protection built in, either the 'ProTechâ„¢ driver protection system' or the 'Thermal overload, DC fault and short circuit protection' is causing problems. Whenever I try to turn the Output volume level on the mixer up, the monitors cut out. The blue LED on the front of the monitors remain on, but the red power indicator LED next to the EQ levels goes out. After 30 seconds or so, or after switching the power off/on, the monitors power up again. I'm not sure if this is a fault with both monitors, which would be strange. Or is it something, or some setting on the mixer thats causing it.

Not quite sure what to do with it! So any advice would be great, And if its a problem with the overload protection, would it be possible to somehow by pass the circuit?

  6. You could either use a wireless extender like this.

The other option is to convert your 240v sockets to network ports by using these.

I use the NETGEAR 200Mbps Powerline Adapter in my home because its so easy. just plug it in and you're away. It all just depends if its desktop pcs or laptops you want to connect. If you want the freedom of having no cables attached then a wireless extender would be best. But if its just for a desktop computer then the powerline adapter should do the job. You can also buy single powerline adapters, to add more devices to the network.

Somebody else may give better advice but thats what I use and it works for me!

  7. I personally just format and reinstall windows if its a stubborn virus. I wouldrather spend a couple of hours doing that, than spend days and days trying to scan and delete every trace of it. Format is by far the easier and quicker option if you can be bothered. Plus, IMHO it does a computer good to have a total clean up now and again.

  8. Noo how is it nobody rallies up in arms lookin fur da RSPCA when somebody mentions crushin a hermless peerie insect, they if I was ta say the same aboot dugs, cats, or especially horses, all far bigger pests IMO, there wid be hell on!

You wid be doin brawly good ta crush a horse we your foot, kinda reminds me of monty python...

I ken whit du means, If you could walk into a shop to buy spray for killing birds in flight, dir wid be all hell on. Yet, its perfectly acceptable if its an insect. Da poor old mouse seems to faa into dat same catagory. Imagine if you could buy a thing lik a bear trap aff da shelf, for catching livestock, dir wid be all hell on!

  9. Hey ewenutz

The standard tuning for a 5 string is (low to high) B - E - A - D - G, like a normal four string with an extra B below. Tuning it like that makes it relatively easy to swap between the 4 and 5 string instruments as the intervals between each string on both instruments is the same

If dy four string is tuned Eb - Ab - Db - Gb it might be worth trying tuning the low string on the 5 to Bb to keep the intervals the same

If du's looking for a warmer sound from the Jazz bass, use the neck pick-up mainly (the one nearer the bridge gives more of a mid range honk) and pluck nearer the neck

Jazz basses are by nature a bit more mid/top heavy in tone than a Precision. Try comparing the two by playing them unplugged so you can see what difference the pick-ups and electronics are making.

If the Jazz bass sounds a lot more twangy that the Precision, it's probably because the strings are newer or are a lighter gauge. I'd try a heavier gauge before resorting to making modifications. And you canna beat some sweat and dead skin among the string windings to take the top end off!

If you're needing a hand setting the basses up, geez a shout!

Thanks I'll try dat we da pluckin, am just no convinced it soonds lik it should do, compared to my P-bass, it soonds terrible, dae soond totally different to each idder. Da problem we da tuning is I play both guitar and bass, both very poorly, so am always swapping between dem, an if its tuned da same as my drop B tuned jackson, den i find it a lot easier!

If I could only find a 5 string P-bass i like, my problems wid be ower, dae seem to be lik hens teeth!
