I have been driving up and down to lerwick several times over the last few months and the standard of driving is unbelievable how someone has not been killed is amazing .You get Idiots driving right up behind you on full beam usally a white pick up heading north going flat out trying to get to work probaly working on the new gas plant and before someone says otherwise the names of the company's are all over the vehicles so i know who they are working for .I have tried to phone them to complian they said i had to give them number of the pick up not easy when they are so close to you that you can't see the number plate .Also over the last few days we have had some snow so why do so many people seem to be driving with fog lights on or even worse one head light . Then you get the idiot's who think they are racing drivers and think they can overtake on blind corners i have had two near misses one of them was very near the only reason i diden't get the guys number was because i was trying to avoid a head on crash with him i had two wheels of the road .My biggest fear is someone is going to be killed before anything is done about it the idiot's that cause the crash usally get away with it without a scratch while someone minding there own business dies.

The Jet flying about today was a RAF Tornado i saw it over Burravoe in Yell this afternoon .

I was down in Lerwick today and i was shocked by the poor standard of driving in the isles the first incident took place in the morning .I was heading south past Petta Water when i noticed a large white van right behind me it stayed there until we had passed the half way house then overtook me it was a council van .The van carried on until it came up behind a small van at Girlsta where it overtook the van in to on coming traffic causing both the van it was overtaking and the car heading north to break to allow it in .The silly thing is that it did not get him anywhere because when i was coming down past Sutherlands he was only three cars in front of me . I was doing 60 mph so he must have been doing about 70 when he passed me i think I'n right in saying the van should not be doing more then 50 . The second indecent took place in the afternoon at Tingwall a taxi overtook a truck round the outside of a corner in to on coming traffic causing the truck and the two cars heading north to break .It's idiots like this who cause accidents and the sad thing is that it is usually the other person that comes of worst and never the idiot that caused the accident in the first place .It's just a pity i didn't get there numbers because i would have had no trouble giving them to the Police .

Yet again the people of the north isles are facing threat of an increase in ferry fairs brought on by the counsels inability to come up with a better solution .It seems that when the council need to save money the first place they look is to the isles first it was the schools now it's the ferries what next .I think they should look closer to home why no cut their expenses or take a pay cut I'm not sure how much they get but whatever it is it's to much.We had one of those drop in meetings in Yell the reason was i think so they did not have a hall full of people shouting at them but you could not get a sensible answer from any of the councilors and when you asked them something they didn't have an answer for they just looked at there feet i did hear someone say It's like pruning a tree you don't start from the bottom you start from the top.

I Have bought lot of things from south and some companies seem to think they can charge as much postage as they like because we live in Shetland that is of course rubbish.I bought a small battery for a digital camera the other day it cost £3.95 and the postage was £8.95 that's right £8.95 i e-mail them and asked why it was so much they e-mailed me but the answer was a bit lame so i bought one from somewhere else for £4.00 and free postage it pays to shop about .As for delivery times i bought the camera from Amazon on Sunday night and it arrived on Wednesday that was royal mail .

If this is true then the only thing that should happen is J Wills should resign immediately it is a bloody disgrace after what took place Norway .
