  1. Does anyone have any info on the house 'Flanderstoon' at Cunningsburgh. Been standing derelict for years. Would make a cracking wee house when renovated. Cheers, Emjay.
  2. Black & White Collie, missing since last night (Saturday) East Quarff / Gulberwick / Fladdabister areas. Answers to Sam, wearing a collar. If seen or found please call me on 01950 477887....much appreciated. Mike.
  3. Probably not the best advice...but the most effective. You make someone seriously afraid of you, you can pretty much get them to do anything, including staying the f*ck away from your property. Harsh i know, but in this softly softly society where the decent working man usually finishes last in most things... But on another note...please do contact your local counciller, rig up security cameras, go to the police...do everything except confront the issue head on...and see where it gets you.
  4. I remember reading a book written by a US doctor re diet and he stated that the first heart attack many years ago left the doctors bamboozled...so rare. Heart attacks took off at around the same time as processed foods took off, especially cheap breads and the like. If you want to lose weight forget the gym (although it does help) give up all breads, butter, marge & confectionary (sweets, crisps etc) and watch the weight fall off. Giving up bread is a good idea for sure. Say goodbye to heartburn too.
  5. I was in Lerwick yesterday and the whole place was like an Ice Rink...never seen it so bad and it seemed to get worse as the morning progressed. 4x4's on ice really doesn't make much difference. Very lucky it was a quiet day or i'm sure there would've been a few accidents.
  6. The Asian lady working in Bolts Minimart....always smiling and very pleasant manner. Also drop dead gorgeous!!
  7. Quality is poor. They deliver to a local retailer where my wife works, packaging often damaged, sandwiches damaged etc etc. A bit like Shetland milk....they can't seem to stop the containers leaking, which is why i always buy Tesco's own brand. Never leak and much longer lasting. Takes my wife hours to clean up the mess in the local retailers fridge due to leaking / spilt Shetland milk...on a daily basis!
  8. music hall, rehearsal spaces, recording studio and education facilities) for £12 million? I'm not sure that you would. Why on earth do we need education facilities when there is a new High School planned? Rehearsal spaces & recording studio...what % of Shetlanders will ever use them...seriously? Do i really need to campaign for something so obvious? There was sausage all to do for young families during the dreary winter months before Mareel and there is sausage all to do after Mareel. I bet you're also one of those anti-Tesco people...for my money a far better asset to Shetland than the already infamous Mareel....and if it had a cafe guaranteed it would be better and far cheaper than the Mareel effort.
  9. (** mod edit - topic merged - please don't start new threads when one dealing with the same subject matter already exists **) Was in there on Sunday with wife & kids....not impressed. Layout is very poor. So much 'dead' floorspace and the place is tiny!! The decor is plain and bland, not a cosy cafe feeling at all (Starbucks, Costa Coffee for instance has that in abundance). Had to wait until tables were organised / set up after the previous night, this was at 14:00pm. One of the chairs was broken. Coffee was served in porcelain 'beakers' with no condiments, had to get them from the counter...paid almost £14.00 for a couple of coffees, 2 cartons of juice and a couple of slices of cake. For £12,000,000 i was expecting something with at least a little bit of 'wow' factor...there is none. In fact, the whole place seems sterile and bland...and who was the fool who decided the screenings board should be outside above the main door instead of inside above the counters??? £12,000,000 could've been spent so much better. What a great shame. Where's the Ice Rink? Where's the 10 pin bowling? Where's the soft ball toy / games / slide area for kids? Where's the arcade?......the list goes on and on. What was sorely needed (and still is) was a £12,000,000 complex featuring all of the above inc cinema. For the 'normal' family all we really have is a cinema and a small cafe / bar...for £12,000,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Yes people generally helpful but system very slow. Not only that more often than not the person you need to speak to is on holiday so your application grinds to a halt. However, building control always been fast and helpful with me. Suppose in all cases depends on the officer.
  11. Just come back from Thailand where 'Super' unleaded fuel price in Bangkok is 73p / litre. Not only that, they fill your car, clean your windscreen and give you free gifts, usually bottles of water, eggs, rice etc etc. Sometimes welcome, sometimes not, but there nonetheless. This carry on having to fill your own vehicle then being robbed is a joke!!
  12. Anyone know who owns the croft house at Flanderstoon, Cunningsburgh? Used to belong to fellow known as 'Boon' before he passed away quite suddenly. PM me with any info, Cheers.
