  1. wow partan, your views are really interesting? you should stand for Fuhrer at the next election! Sieg Heil!
  2. Sudden stop yes, believe they are flying by charter into Sumburgh every Saturday/Sunday. Guess the weekend being the obvious days to fly!
  3. ^^Pour into clean glass. If it is nice and clear and and looks and smells good it is good. it is only a "best before date" and unless the can is faulty it should be OK Alternatively try a can on your workmates and note how they react.
  4. According to TV news, the UK government air traffic agency has closed our airspace until mid-night. It is expected this will include English airport from mid-day today. However some airlines are unwilling to actually cancel flights until their departure time has passed. I hear that futher eruptions are taking place Need da eart of da wind ta change otherwise there maybe no quick solution
  5. I didn't elevate myself to my high position by blowing 50 quid on a teeshirt. That is for the wannabees to squander their cash on. Quite happy with those bought at Asda or Tesco. When I need to go upmarket LHD does nicely On Da Street its normally the price tag that goes up-market not the goods.
  6. if they followed the advice of the police there would be no-one at the airport today!
  7. I see that two aircraft have taken off from Sumburgh just after one with the people that made it here.
  8. Its wintertime in Shetland. We should expect weather disruption. Its a bit chancy planning any little trips this time of year unless there is a pressing reason. However if you require someone else to make a decision then perhaps you should simply stay put. If you have an emergency then there are services in place. If the police or SIC take that decision then people will still not be happy. If you can't take the heat (or the cold in this instance) then perhaps consider Shetland is not the place to live. Threats, however, stupid against minor functionaries at airports, for instance, is not only ignorant but misplaced.
  9. I wonder if it is possible to get all councillors' bank accounts frozen until this matter is sorted. I am sure that we could easily find £250K there. The real problem is perhaps not Del boy but the eejits that left the family jewels exposed on the back of a lorry. Del boy may simply be an opportunist.
  10. It seems fair that people getting "extras" should pay. My only concern us that by charging for tuition it may drive down numbers and make the music tutors posts untenable. That would be a shame, and once the posts are gone, then that would mean that music tuition at best would be an out-of-school activity, mainly town centred, putting additional costs on families. How many less well off parents would be willing to give up fag's, booze and skysports to keep their kids on the fiddle? Not enough I imagine!
  11. Onwye bairns, be good. I hear He's aksin/ lippenin a million noo fur aa his budder!
  12. For a short visit. come by air. its normally a lot cheaper than the boat. Look at the Flybe website. if you can be a little bit flexible and play around with the days and also plan ahead you can get fares from sometimes as little as £30 each way
  13. "Nelly the Elephant packed her trunk, and said goodbye to the circus" is this the right thread
