  1. Please sign these if you are as angry as me: http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Stop-MP-Expenses/ http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/expenses-fraud/ [***mod edit - thread merged with existing topic ***]
  2. (** merged **) Any one realise this was happening this morning? http://www.earthquakes.bgs.ac.uk/helicorder/heli.html (Click the view button) Wonder where it was on the Richter scale...
  3. MARVIN - Sorry just noticed, can you not get freeview? If not I would seriously consider either not getting it, or better using it along with free sat or something? We can't get Freeview, and although BT Vision's content is really good, its a pain having to watch analogue channels... I understand completely what you mean about current media like the news...
  4. At the moment there is no current media like news on the ON DEMAND - because of the format (no-one is going to stream BBC or SKY news, when its on freeview??) - but as I said BT Vision allows you to watch all the Freeview channels, so there is plenty of news etc there. oh and yes there is Pokemon & Spongebob ON DEMAND...
  5. It's through BT Broadband I'm afraid...
  6. I have had BT vision for about a year now, I got it when it first came out. I have never had any streaming problems, but that's mainly due to the fact the Home Hub gives a bigger percentage of the bandwidth to the BT vision box over your computer for example (worth noting there is no noticeable dip in your computer's internet speed when used together). There is a huge selection of popular TV programs, loads of pretty recent films (as good if not better than SKY box office). One thing to mention is that you have to pay extra for SPORT (Setanta), and films are strictly pay per view. I took out a subscription (£14 p/m) which includes all TV, MUSIC, KIDS DOCUMENTARIES, etc. etc. it works out cheaper for me rather than pay per view. It is cheaper than Sky and you're not paying for 999 channels of rubbish. There is no contract for a subscription meaning it can be cancelled at any time reverting back to pay per view at no additional cost. The main reason I like BT Vision is you watch what you want when you want - If you suddenly get an urge to watch LOST series 2 episode 4, you can! I don't know what it costs now to setup, but when I did I think it was £30. Oh yeah nearly forgot - The BT Vision Box is also a digital free-view recorder thingy, just like sky plus, wahey! Hope that helps!
  7. Absolutely Brilliant! Met him at the Lounge after - really nice chap.
  8. ...also: loyalty, philanthropy, and chastity...
  9. Tax evasion - what are accountants for...? "Far from avoiding tax, Tesco is a top 10 UK taxpayer, contributing more than £1 billion to the Exchequer last year,"
  10. "Support your local shop", "Local's best" Just how much of the produce in a local shop are actually sourced "locally"? Milk, Tatties & some veg (depending on shop & time of year) Butter Meat (sometimes) Anything else? 90% + of the stock comes from one of the two local wholesalers - Most of the sourcing at the wholesalers is done from fruit and veg markets south and slaughter houses south / Orkney (repackaged as Shetland meat once carved). Support your local shop - more like support your local Wholesaler??
  11. I can't see that this is going to benefit any other "citizen" (possibly tax status? complicated?) other than his exellency, considering he's the only person that lives there... in a tent... on his own.... ...and IF he sells the 8000 "landowning citizen" plots at the current rate: £120 that makes mister stuart a very rich man, maybe not so stupid after all...
  12. Njugle as you'll notice, I wasn't there during said incident. ...hence apparently... I was told this had happened by an APPARENTLY trust worthy source... My feelings on the man and his food remain... Now go shake your moderatory stick at someone else
  13. The management of the co-op is a joke. Yeah, yeah their busy - so what?! Get more staff, train them well, have every single checkout open etc. I agree with fratelli completely, I couldnt give two hoots about the "local shop", I do care about my wallet however... You tell 'em Salmon! Yeah as long as its not me...
  14. I wasn’t aware of any racist comments at all that night, so there is absolutely no excuse. Even if he had been verbally abused, there is no excuse for that, I'm sorry but locking in (taking prisoner) your customers is illegal, end of. The man's a fool, I'm surprised he didn't get into any trouble with the punters for locking them in; I know I wouldn't have stood for it... Kebabs are generally quite horrible... I made the mistake of eating one the day after - bleh...
  15. Anyone been in the kebab shop / remember being in the kebab shop lately? [***MOD EDIT - Defamatory content removed***]. I was in there the other weekend, and the guy was shouting and slamming his fist on the counter at a punter. The glass cabinet was smashed, kind of sweeped up, blood on the floor. He accused me and a friend of mine of stealing juice while we were still in the shop? eh? And apparently after we left, [***MOD EDIT - Defamatory content removed***] I mean I'm no detective but... this guy obviously hasnt studied law, in the UK anyways'... Needless to say I won't be going back... [***MOD EDIT - Unsubstantiated hearsay and speculation of a defamatory type removed in accordance with the forum T&Cs***]
  16. Save money and stick Ubuntu or Sabayon Linux on your machine Fjool, must save about £60-£70 on windows? Have a look on ebay aswell, there are some great deals on CPU's etc. I wouldn't say the DELL are the only computer manufacturer that pack their machines full of bloat, far from it - It's a common practice among every company, theres no way around it. Although I have to say that DELL's ubuntu computers are reasonable value - And no bloat that I'm aware of...
  17. Silvercloud - the last thing on my mind these days is tourists - you do realise that people actually live here? With the cost of living in Shetland spiralling - I gladly welcome any supermarket that can offer the people of Shetland a bit of a break. In fact I am going to have a "Welcome Tesco's" barbeque... neh neh neh neh P.S. They buy in much of it locally...
  18. Floats free - held gently - bit of a contradiction, yes? I would however like to point out that, this cat theory thing of yours does actually make some logical sense, if (and a massive if), there are lots of incoming forces, which I very much doubt...but let me know how you get on? not really... Yes, please... with the rest...? Ah, the better man... I'm sorry I didn't realise I was dealing with a higher being from Krypton, my apologies... I will return in one year from this date... I think thats what Einstein said about Relativity... It's great, I love it...
  19. hmmm Perhaps fizziks should take note and learn a thing or two. You've taken me completely out context you fool. But I shall humour you... The point I was making up there billy bob, was that science (or fizziks as you know it) does not stop looking for evidence and answers, where as religion doesnt look at all....Do you see the outstanding difference there me lad? Oh yeah, and Cats'?! You can bin them, its a physical impossiblity that they can land on their feet everytime...gravity repels so... you know...

    Wedding DJ

Ok, any suggestions for wedding dj's?
  21. Are you SERIOUS!? Steven Hawking, has Motor Neurone Disease? I'm not searching for it....? So... yeah... nothing yet... KOYAANISQATSI I find this thread totally random. I mean: Einstein, Repelling gravity, Pyramids built by hawking... There is no logic in this place...
  22. What the hell has this got to do with Einstein and his theories?! Pyramids?! Next you'll be saying little green men constructed them...! ..Well it’s not an example of your solid knowledge of physics, which by the looks of things is fairly wobbly, it's yet another quote from someone else. I mean seriously: Gravity repels?! Can't you see that's just plain nonsense, think about how that affects us literally?! I would like to see some of your own thoughts KOYAANISQATSI, and less of these generic quotes, which by the way are totally unfounded nonsense with zero evidence to back them up. KOYAANISQATSI, basically you can post quotes all day but you cannot argue with someone like Einstein until you can show a deep understanding of Physics, and what’s more come up with good evidence for your "findings". One more point, why hasn't the "New Scientist" called you?
