  5. ohhh so here is where this thread disappeared off to
  6. Ooooooo the politics of it all! You are totally right about the way it was dealt with but these things do tend to go this way, at least the site wont be turned into flats!
  7. looking excellent as usual Had a quick listen to a few of them and Henrik Jansberg especially caught my ear...
  8. Scotch Mist.... I downloaded and watched it last night, pretty awesome in parts!
  9. there is only one way to settle this.... The True Truth.... There we go, its settled, end of thread.
  10. oh no dont ask that! With reference to the poll, its a rubbish poll.
  11. its not quite as simple and straight-forward as a self-indulgent board. The Lemon Tree was much more than an arts and music venue.... Post #228 from "prof-lofi" in this thread will add some perspective from someone on the inside..... http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/other-clubs-venues/46755-lemon-tree-no-more-16.html The LT goes into formal liquidation on Tues18, there is fundraising going on.... not all is lost but..............
  12. aye they are getting lots of publicity for the campaign, good luck and lets hope they get somewhere.... and the irony http://living.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=1895752007
  13. Its not all doom and gloom..... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/north_east/7130690.stm but this will rip up a considerable part of Union Terrace Gardens, one of the only such spaces in centre of town; and all the issue about losses and council funding etc etc etc etc etc etc....
  14. maybe Donald Trump will step in with a rescue package.....
  15. Aye its sad but oh well.... Harsh on the 50 staff who have lost their jobs 3 weeks before Xmas, but business is business.... The LT was heavily funded, but it just wasn't commercially viable and basically never has been. They were offered a deal involving a loan from the council, after a healthy chunk of funding was stopped, however, unsurprisingly, no-one was willing to take that risk!! It was voluntary liquidation, so its gone. Bye bye. onwards and upwards.....
  16. Thought Id post up a new video for the FK, enjoy!

  19. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h71/AndyVocoustic/heathergreene400-1.jpg www.heathergreene.com www.myspace.com/wwwmyspacecomheathergreene http://youtube.com/watch?v=Mw3ut0dFW8I some words about her....... "English has a nice word for this kind of music: Lush! Folk, jazz, singer-songwriter and country meet each other in this striking Americana variant that will reach out to you..." (Hanx, Amsterdam) "Heather's compositions envelop you without your realizing ... they take you off guard and stay there." (Rolling Stone, France) "A warm and gracious charm, it is time to pay attention to this talent." (La Jalouse, France) "With an intimate voice and lush atmospherics, Heather Greene may very will be the antidote to an agitated world." (La Humanite, France) "Courage is needed for such an album, but even more so, talent, self-confidence, and heart..." (Music Outlook, Germany) Heather's slow and steady rise amongst the ranks of New York musicians is now gathering momentum like the slow and steady burn of the sun towards noon. With a bittersweet collection of original material that slowly envelopes the listener into her slo-mo world of layered soundscapes, she has charmed enough of her hometown over the past two years to sell out high-profile clubs in New York City such as Joe's Pub, Tonic, Southpaw and the Living Room. Her tunes slowly slip into your consciousness, leaving you to feel like you've just driven down a lonely highway with a lover you've just met but never imagined you'd end up sleeping with night after night. WNYC proclaimed her "New York's Best Kept Secret" and publications like Time Out New York, The New York Post, and The Village Voice all praise her music and continually recommend her performances to those wishing to hear live music. Rolling Stone (France) just gave her CD three stars and radio DJs at top stations are gently waking up to her lush compositions Guitars, strings, double bass, drums and other sounds are layered upon her piano-driven compositions by incredible colleagues like Bill Frisell and the Tosca String Quartet. Each musical part uncovers mini-stories unto themselves, revealed after many listenings. Her intimate cover of the Cars "Just What I Needed" indicates a sense of play and sexiness, and has prompted at least two reporters to call her "daring." At once sexy and innocent, romantic yet a tiny bit sarcastic, bold yet dreamy, Heather's songs contain a duality of opposites that capture moments in time otherwise lost by busy lives and hurried heads. Like so many musicians who are coming out of the New York City scene, Heather's songs teeter on a mix of Jazz, pop, folk and even a bit of country.
