It sounds like the SNP at least, are keen and willing to bring in refugees. Maybe have to vote for them after all, especially as England will probably leave the EU and close its borders!

I think the barrier acts as a visual stimulant for those that used to ignore the red light and claim they could'nt see it . Probably better to wait a mo rather than get tyre marks on your roof.

Whilst the circumstances in this case are sad and genuine, there will the another side to this story and the Northlnk staff will probably not be allowed to defend themselves. I notice people always turning up late for boats and flights (usually the same people) where it is down to trying to squeeze every last minute out of their stay. I wonder how often staff get to hear the same story and probably have to answer to management , or not get paid extra  if there are delays. an old adage " flights run for people who are waiting, not waiting for people who are running. "

If your in your car its far quicker to nip to the Shops in Scalloway, Sandwick or Whiteness. they are just 5 to 10 minutes away. Big fines for parking on Da Street are what's needed.

At least the Inquiry might be able to get some facts that are not for public consumption.    .....and Its only a matter of time until another politician is caught out, so the result of this inquiry might have far reaching consequences.  
If the Lib Dems are not going to be able to stand up for us perhaps its time the Isles' had an Independent candidate.
Politics in Scotland is in danger of creating divided communities, something they have always had problems with  in the central belt. I think we need good rural representation to counter balance the urbanists. The tories at least had some idea   about the countryside.
 
Be interesting if Scotland actually voted no in the EU referendum. wouldn't it!

I'd rather see a trip cancelled than see someone (or lots of someones) get hurt or worse. It makes me more likely to travel by ferry knowing the skippers take safety seriously.

The more I hear about this, I think that perhaps it might be better to take education out of the hands of our council. Perhaps it would be better run directly by a separate authority. My estimation of the SIC's ability to handle such an important  issue is low. After all this greatly affects the economic viability of the communities concerned as well as  providing the best possible education for our children.
 
My concern is that there are two factors pushing this along; short -term cost-cutting and justification for a new high school in Lerwick

perhaps there are worse eyesores than the barges.....e,g, .TSB, Mareel, Charlotte House, New sic hq at north ness. to each his own opinion
