On the second page of this document is the story of how the first headmaster of the Anderson Educational Institute was responsible for football being introduced to Brazil. I believe the author is a Shetlander. http://www.standrewswithcastlegate.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/newsletter.pdf

Cunningsburgh FC AGM was tonight and was desperatly poorly attended once again. We still need a secretary! The idea was discussed to see if there was interest in having a small gym in the changing rooms during the winter months. September to March ish. If there was interest we could look at putting a treadmill, bike and rowing machine in one changing room and perhaps weights, punch bag etc in other room. A small changing room and shower would still be available. It would be quite low cost maybe £10 per month or something and might save people travel to Lerwick. Really need to know if many people are interested before buying equipment etc. Id think we'd need 20 members or so to get going. Then we might get more help running the joint! Please discuss, try and be helpful lol.

Hi, I'm new to the island and I'm looking for information on local football, leagues, events, etc. I've looked around the internet and from what I can figure out, there's the Shetland FA and the Work League. First off, what are the levels of these leagues? What competitions do they take part in and where are these games played? I was also wondering if there were any amateur leagues, nothing too serious, along the lines of "Sunday league". I've found nothing when looking online, so I'm losing hope, but maybe there's something that just doesn't have an online presence yet (I know that's unlikely in this day and age!). Thanks in advance!
