Greatest Gigs in Shetland....ever!

These instantly spring to mind (in no particular order):-

Swamptrash @ Mossbank Hall circa 88 - I believe Harry Horse lives in Shetland these days. They were superb

Pulp @ Clickimin circa 95? - Great gig. Pulp were at their peak

Supernaturals @ Klub Revolution 2001 - Just a fabulous atmosphere.

Runrig @ Clickimin (the first time they were here). Not really in to the music but the gig was first rate and the atmosphere was brilliant.

The Men They Couldn't Hang @ Clickimin and Angling Club. Wanted to see them for years.

Amphetameanies @ North Star circa 2000. The best ska act to come to Shetland.

Idlewild @ North Star. Superb band and the whole Radio 1 thing added to it. The first band to play at the North Star for a while which also made it a bit special.

Speedway @ The North Star. Expecting a rather crappy pop act but they were really good live and again the atmosphere was superb.

Bongshang @ The North Star. Apocalypse Noo.... New Year 1999/2000. Brilliant.

Elvis Costello @ Clickimin circa late 80's - Brilliant performer and the crowd was well up for it.

Edward II and Shooglenifty @ Clickimin

At The Edge - I'm a tad biased.....

Pete Stack and the Rayburns@ Shipshape 98 and the closing gigs at Klub Revolution

Others in the running:-

AB/CD (the first time) - took the roof off the Clickimin and it was the best audience reaction I've ever seen in the Clickimin

Delgados - No crowd but a great gig

Suppository Business - no particular gig springs to mind but a great live act.

Durutti Column - Again, no crowd but a really special performance

Needles @ Scalloway Hall - Yet again, no crowd but fantastic show.

Cosmic Rough Riders @ Scalloway Hall and Legion

Drunk in Public - Legion

House of Rhythm @ Burra Hall. A fantastic live act.

The gigs at the Brig'o'Fitch - all of them. The Dawn Treaders spring to mind.

The Mighty Human Generator and The Last Divide @ Brae Hall circa 1990...just a great night!

Marts 2004 - A great line up and never a dull moment.

Biggest disappointments:-

Proclaimers - they were crap and the sound was awful

Hayseed Dixie - Sound was poor and the novelty wore off very quickly. Would have been good in a smaller venue

I was sooth and missed both those gigs.

Ah yes, that was a great night

I should probably add The Bluetones at the North Star last year. They were cracking and the patter between the songs was great.

Yep.

And with all the fine events mentioned so far: Dare i say the two Shetland Rock Festivals in the clickimin. They were pretty good. It's seems so long ago that i can hardly remember the line up, so i won't embarass myself trying, but pretty huge in their day.

Anybody ken the definitive list?
