Mobile phone signal and service (coverage, contract, 3G etc)

We've not had any reception with Vodafone today and heard rumours of mast problems, possibly due to the weather. Anyone heard anything?

(** mod edit - this thread is a merged combination of at least 5 discussions - please post messages regarding mobile phone coverage, signal outages etc in this thread rather than start a new one each time you encounter a problem with your phone - Cheers! **)

Hello There,

I am in Tingwall.. And have not been able to get a signal all day. My mobile just says "No Service" and when I tried to contact Vodafone then there helpline stated that it had technical problems aswell so I couldnt get through to anyone.

But Im not best pleased... :(

Cheers

I was glancing at this thread thinking "Ah well, what a shame, nothing to do with me" until the penny finally dropped and i realised that i have no signal, and this explains why i only got my voicemail from yesterday at 3pm this afternoon while visiting Nesting.

Still no signal. :(

Goodness knows how we in deepest darkest Hillswick are back on with Vodafone and others aren't.. I'm not sure whether we get our signal via Collafirth Hill or wot. I know there are others still off in Mossbank too. My Pocketsurfer is still off though. It'll be interesting to see if that springs back to life when the Scalloway mast is fixed. We're so reliant on technology these days!! Can you imagine life without t'internet and mobiles?

Try moving tae waa's. miss my 3G up here anyway, but got no phone signal with out walking half way up one of the surrounding hills. Try explaining that to folk south. At least I can still text fae the computer - if only folk would believe me that I can't recieve them!

That was life only a few years ago, and being completely honest i really miss it. I'm only now realising how much.

Don't get me wrong, i enjoy the internet and appreciate its usefullness. Mobiles can save a lot of time and money in organising things, over and above the safety benefits.

However last night while the mobiles were down, and then the lights flickered, i was honestly longing for the power to go too. And genuinely dissapointed when it didnt.

Imagine - no streetlights blazing in windows, no TV blaring, no emails/IM's/texts/voicemails/phonecalls etc etc..

Sheer bliss..

However, went off a bit there, back to the topic! Still no joy North i hear, but reception was fine in Scalloway and Brae late (11pm and on) last night (sunday).
