McFly
http://www.medialens.org/index.php There's no point discussing anything on this forum cos the news is all nonsense anyway!

petergear
Thanks for that McFly, enjoying the Medialens site, lots of good material. 8O
McFly
No problem Mr Gear. 8O indeed! It's scary how much of what we think is reliable news is actually spin. When you compare the facts and figures in some of those articles to the related stories in "respectable" broadsheets, the differences in message are quite incredible. It really is a full time job to dig up the real story behind the headlines.
Njugle
That is so true. We think we live in a democracy with free speech etc., and a liberated press, but it is 100% true that our perception of what is happening around the world or even in our own country is incredibly selective. During the beginning of the 2nd "Gulf War" i was pointed towards debka.com, a middle eastern news service, and was gob-smacked to see the differences in what we were hearing in the UK as compared with debkafile. One can hardly imagine what the yanks were hearing. The fiddler calls the tune indeed
Distortio
it is 100% true that our perception of what is happening around the world or even in our own country is incredibly selective. actually it's only 96% true, sometimes our perception of what is happening around the world or in our own country is only very selective. it said so on fox news.
