These 2 days were originally meant to be holidays anyway - the council changed it so they didn't have to pay support staff for working a bank holiday if they went back on the Monday after new year.

Apparently today is at the discretion of the heads. I've heard that the Westside, and the Northerly schools are closed. The central cluster should be open as is Lerwick. I haven't heard anything about the South Mainland.

(** mod edit - merged with existing thread **)

Anyone know if the schools are closed tomorrow?
I've listened to Radio Shetland just before 1pm, but there was nothing on there about closures.

Unless it's going to be really bad they usually only make an announcement on the morning.

The Shetland News is being (of necessity) enigmatic.
Schools may not open tomorrow

I wish they would make decisions the night before, I dont see there being much difference between this morning and tomorrow morning and the weather seemed to forecast snow for us through the small hours!

Skeld and Mid Yell are closing. Decision on the rest will be made tomorrow morning. I think Radio Scotland will have the news just before 7 a.m.

There have been no decisions made about the other schools. The decision will be made in the morning when they see what the night weather brings. I suppose we will all have to listen to the radio in the morning to find out.
