You missed Nesting. I think that is the only one, unless anyone else knows better?

Oh dear...what a shame. And we were in today - and we were open the last day of term. It's a hard life, eh?

Actually i'm fae Brae and we weren't in on the last day o term and we weren't in today either... but i don't see the point in opening the school for da last day o da week when we can be shut until Monday for a new start and a full week.

mine go's to Brae, seems pointless going in tomorrow, but with temps of minus ten it's 50/50.

Sledging springs to mind

I really don't wanna go to school and i agree with you,, whats the point in going in on the last day of the week when we can not take risks of trying to get buses to places to pick them up and just keep closed till Monday when we can then have a full week of lessons instead of ONE day... its stupid really. Fingers crossed!!

Can't remember the full list, but the ones which are closed are the ones which are in either the North or west mainland as there have been a couple of inches of snow.

Shetland College and learning centres is open today

Eric Gtay is open, but will be assessed for individual clients.

Skeld,
Mossbank
Whiteness
North Roe
Mid Yell
Tingwall
Brae
Urafirth
Happyhansel
Aith
Sandness
Ollaberry
Olnafirth

Hmmm - I started to type the list, then had to wait for the list of fishing reports.... Think I got them all...

you must have been listening to SIBC...no wonder you're confused :)

depends what happens. the roads are fine in town but still dodgy out here. there will be lots of black ice in the morning. it does seem daft for the westside schools to open for a day. aith on a shorter day makes even less sense. be careful the hospital does not need the custom.

i know.. its silly.. pointless. dont see why the teachers cant see sense... its gonna get really icy over night probably and its dangerous to drive... and yet they still expect parents to get there children to school and expect bus drivers to get us to school aswell... its dangerous!!!

It was the white fish and pelagic landings along with the grant allocations that finished me off... My apologies for missing Nesting!

Er, it's not the teachers that say whether or not a school is to shut. They no more want to travel along icy roads than anyone else does. For them also the safety of the children is the most important thing!

It is usually down to the head teacher to have the final say.

The winter whiteout conditions affecting the UK are clearly visible in this satellite image

Don't see that very often. And I don't blame anyone, who has kept there feet. Well and truly under the quilt, with a warm bottle. Or keep there kids at home for a few more days
