Between Weathers

Apologies mods if there is a thread about this already I didn't spy it.

Saw this on the BBC news website, anyone been keeping much of an eye on it, could bring a bit of buzz to Shetland if the film is any good.

I nominated two out of the four so if The Spiggie Hotel or the Pierhead get picked I hope I get a pint for my glowing endorsement

As a Ness man, you must be proud that they've used 'Horse Holm/Horse Island' on this page of their site.

But seriously, looks like this film could be good for Shetland.

Don't know if it's going to be serious or slightly funny, but it has to be better than the farcical representation that the SIC presents of Shetland.

Kind of have mixed feelings they have been drawing parallels with Local Hero and there are similarities but if the script isn't right it could become just another light hearted comedy about small town hillbillies fighting against big business and half witted government and that nearly always looks twee.

I just hope they don't try and tone down the local dialect too much because they're bound to have a southerner as the lead and if there is little to no local accents it may as well be set in the channel islands.

We were talking about this film just yesterday and wondering if it was all on the level, since there doesn't seem to be any listing for either the film or the director - Jim Brown - on the IMDB, which lists some very small budget productions, episodes of TV shows, etc. and also lists cameramen, makeup artists and so on.

You can find Jim Brown IMDb here. I googled various films on the Between Weathers website.

Thanks. Glad to see that he is up there :)

Your post does bring the words "Blackwood Distillers" to mind though!

That was the reason we were ready to leap to conclusions when we were discussing it originally - we were old enough to remember only too well all the other grandiose schemes that've been raised over the years and eventually collapsed in ignominy....

Thanks for your feedback on the film. We've already cast three Shetlanders in roles already and this is just the start!

It's almost impossible to get a listing on IMDB for a film that isn't in pre-production but we'll be up there as soon as practicable.

We don't start shooting until next year so watch this space!

Best Regards,

.

I didn't know it was to be a reality show...

To be honest a film of the last 18 months shenanigans would be box office gold and should be the opening night performance for mareel. I'd get Pacino to do Wills and De Niro to do Clark, Hugh Grant for Cluness not for the resemblance but for how well Hugh does bumbling indecsion.

Interesting to see that Spiteri has been cast for the film.

I've long thought that she had more to her than has been evidenced by the Texas material. Some may be surprised to know that she turned up a few years ago duetting on the mighty Rammstein's song "Stirb nicht vor mir" (Don't die before I do). This is a fanvid mashing together Rammstein and Texas live footage with bits from Nosferatu:
