Would it be possible for people to somehow encourage people who have several pairs of shoes, for example, to sell, or several dresses, to put them on one advert.

That would minimise the quantity of ads, and would make the ads faster too scroll through when looking for something of interest.

Well, for me anyway!

Shetlink is inviting me as a regular user to add some feedback so when I click on it all I get is the opportunity to reply to an ongoing topic????

Wanted to say the old system used to let you search all ads by (whoever) which allowed you to cut & paste an old lapsed advert & copy it into a new one - I canna see if this is possible now - not very user friendly so come back old Shetlink!

From the drop down where your name is you can access your expired adverts from your classifieds manager:

I think that no-one should quibble over a small fee.  Even if it was just a quid an ad.  All those quids would add up.  More for commercial ads of course.

It would be nice if Shetlink acknowledged donations (privately) by email.  I have only given a few times, but I don't think I have had a thank you.

It is difficult to work this I would think. You may need to set up Shetlink Ltd. I have had responses to any donation I have made in the past, though I believe that those making money from this free service should be asked first. I think a pound may be too much though. Folk may migrate to Freecycle or similar schemes. There is also a FB site that folk can buy and sell in Shetland that will never charge.

If somebody asks a question on an advert, is a notification by email all the advertiser is supposed to get letting them know its there, or are they supposed to get one in their PM Inbox as well?

If notification by email is all that's supposed to be, any chance the system could be tweaked so that one gets sent to the advertiser's PM Inbox as well? As for my part at least, I'm far more likely to be aware of what's happening on site, than in my email account. If one is supposed to come to the PM Inbox already, there seems to be a glitch with that at the mo, as someone asked a question on an Ad of mine yesterday, and there's nothing in my PM's about it I can find.

Hi,

The notification should be to your PM inbox and an email is also fired your way as a prompt if that is setup in your notification options http://www.shetlink....a=notifications - it is by default unless changed. For instance, either by a user, or if the email bounces etc. or someone marks it as spam then Shetlink will not send any further emails.

If it's an ask question feature - where you have the choice to display it to the open public then only an email is sent by way of notification.

Interesting that you're kinda the other way around i.e. no PM .. *rubs chin* - was it a public question thingy?

^ Yup, it was a public question thingy. Which explains why just an email notification.

Any chance a tweak is possible to make it so when a  public question is asked that a notification is sent to both email and PM, it would be helpful to folks like me who only check emails occasionally, but are on site more often.

Total pain in the ass, missed questions because i assumed id get a notification in Shetlink at the top - the email account for here is never read.

I'm finding it very difficult to work my way through this website, have got lost lots of times. Now that I have been able to put some items for sale in the classifieds, I seem unable to insert photos of those items.  Why?

A mistake I often make is after you select 'Choose File' and you pick a photo, remember to then click 'Attach This File'

Hi, can anybody help me?!.

I'm trying to place an advert in the classifieds but I'd like to have the "Price" as 0.00 because it's POA.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it keeps coming up as "Offers" or "Free"!.

Thanks.

Depending on the category it will do that  i.e. flag up as a 'type'.

Stick something like 0.01 and then detail POA in title / description. Hardly ideal but, will get you there.

Is it a secret?

Maybe we could all have a guess?

It would be nice if the messaging system didn't encounter errors seemingly every second day.
Possibly losing my new home due to not being able to reply in time.

Do feel free to add some further information - such as error message and the process you took to get to the error. We're not hearing of any other issues in regards the PM system.

There appears to be an error with the database.

If you are seeing this page, it means there was a problem communicating with our database. Sometimes this error is temporary and will go away when you refresh the page. Sometimes the error will need to be fixed by an administrator before the site will become accessible again.

I've attempted sending the message on two separate laptops and my phone since yesterday evening. Replying to the original PM thread or attempting to start a new one using the full editor or quick response all have the same outcome.
