Describe Eshaness

Hello,

I will soon be locating to Shetland. I worked there and  liked it so much. Yes, I know it's wild,rugged,interesting and sometimes has a sunny disposition,like myself !! But my question is this:

Can anyone give me a description or some history,web information of

Eshaness ( did I spell that correctly ??) . I never managed to get there ,time,working,etc;

but would like to know a bit more before I do venture up that way.

Any description ,whether from a local or not so local would be good.

Eshaness is a special place for me. My late Dad was born there and my brother's ashes were scattreed at the cliffs near the lighthouse there. Eshaness is one of the most remote places of the Shetland mainland and the population is very scattered. It was the birthplace of Shetland fidlder Tom Anderrson and he wrote one of his most famous tunes "Da Slokkit Light" about seeing fewer and fewer house lights as the population either died or moved away.

The whole northmavine area has a lot of interesting history, the museum is an excellent place to start. My mums family were from Stenness just next to Eshaness.

A description of a place from a personal point of view is quite interesting.

I'm looking forward to reading about it and in the very near future,visiting Eshaness.
