Silver_Birch
What has happened to the prices at the Scrap-store? I was in on Friday, and they were sky high! I couldn't believe how much some things cost. The charity shops in town tried that once, and people just stopped buying. I always thought that their stuff was priced to help poor folk - not any more! The atmosphere in the store was terrible, and I was most surprised to see the woman who has been behind the counter for years and done the pricing is no longer allowed to do it...allegedly! I shall be using Shet-link classifieds from now on. sludgegulper and oddtablet
Sukibind
The baby stuff always used to be very affordable, but now they want silly prices. If you are going to a second hand place place for baby stuff its because you cant afford new prices. No new parent wants to buy second hand, so if you have to go to places like the scrapstore its because you have very little money. Stop trying to rip people off, all the things there have been donated. Help people who need help! oddtablet and Almara

MuckleJoannie
I guess what you think of the prices depends on what you are buying. I was in there the other day and the itmes I looked at didn't seem to be any dearer.

Claadehol
Well Sukibind, perhaps you shouldnt have bothered to go back in if you're so scunnered with the prices. Prices seem ok to me.
Scorrie
Perhaps some folk expect to be given stuff for nothing?
tkstewart
I bought a couple of books in there the other week and they were very reasonably priced (50p each). I'd say they probably have the finest collection of classic literature for sale in Shetland too Frances144

In my experience, it's mostly Shetlinkers browsing the For Sale ads that expect summat for nowt shetlandpeat, Acid, Scorrie and 1 other
shetlandpeat
Perception of expensive is directly linked to how much money you are able to afford, more importantly, what you may have to go without to obtain such items. To some, things that many see as affordable, are not.
Ghostrider
Expensive is also directly linked to one's perception of VFM.
