Scorrie
Although Caithness is officially a part of Scotland, they've always had a great deal of passion about their Norse ancestry. Interesting to see that the newly unfurled county flag harkens back to these links - with no reference to Scotland whatsoever: http://community.caithness.org/article.php?id=5346&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=facebook Da Burra Shop
hjasga
Interesting, but Good Lord what an unsightly flag.

Scorrie
Nope, it's a fairly good image of a C15th barque. Google 'Cabot' or 'The Matthew'

BigMouth
My automatic reaction was to start whistling the Captain Pugwash theme music. Then my mind went to Roger the Cabin Boy. All this from one flag. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3nM2Ul4rLU
Scorrie
There is a reason for the ship on the flag, it's the device for Wick - the county town. But it does look 'piratey' Saw my first one on the West coast of Scotland in Dunstaffnage marina a few days back. Flag - not pirate, I hasten to add.....
