Hostel accommodation for rural pupils

I wondered who else had a letter from the lovely and wonderful SIC to now state that it looks like pupils will now not have an option to board at hostel for the new Anderson school, and only spaces will be for outer isle children. We live in Sandness and the letter stated that no hostel places will be an option for pupils in Sandness and West Burrafirth.

Very worried about this, I cant see how a child can function on this 5 day a week 3hr commute for school. Not only do they keep threatening us with taking away Aith school, they are now taking away the option to go into the hostel. Whatever next?? I also worry about this commute in the winter weather and road conditions.

I wondered which other areas of Shetland had these letters, and what parents feelings were about it. We will of course be at the meeting to oppose this decision.
