Anyone else had trouble getting accommodation in Orkney to work in with ferries from/to Shetland?

My partner, dog and I are wanting to visit Orkney from Fri 29/6 to either Thurs 5/7 or Sat 7/7 but all suitable places to stay are Sat-Sat lets!

Any ideas of anywhere I'm not aware of?

Would you think that it is feasible to walk from accommodation in Kirkwall to Hatston in Orkney  for Northlink Ferry?  Would appreciate any comment from anyone who knows.

Nice easy walk.  Done it a few times.  Just give yourself at least half an hour.

Better still, take the bus !  There is one that meets every ferry.
