Davie P
This is a fascinating thread. I'm making my way through the transcription of Brian Smith's talk which is fascinating too - the link was posted earlier in the discussion (9 years earlier!), but here it is for convenience - http://normblog.typepad.com/normblog/2006/09/gibbets_and_gal.html My Brother in Law did his PHD on witches in Shetland and might have some information. Also worth noting that the house at Berry Farm used to be the hangmans house although I have no idea of any dates etc. Colin, do you know if any of your brother in law's research is available on t'internet? Davie P
Thanks Colin. I found some interesting audio recording of folk tales about witches on the Shetland ForWirds website - http://www.shetlanddialect.org.uk/storytelling They remind me of when my granny used to tell me spooky bedtime stories!
