  1. Well T&N joinery have just spent the Summer holidays reharling and painting the AHS games hall so I assume it will be demolished within weeks. The Council published a draft development plan last year but seem to have withdrawn it. It scheduled the whole site for development, which is interesting as one of the apparent reasons for the expensive design at the Knab us the restrictions on site use. I would be surprised if the title to most of the land is not restricted to educational use. New all Lerwick primary best idea then build houses at BellsBrae and Sound
  2. As said in other thread seems to have been upgraded today (BT Broadband) no email or other communication just happened .
  3. Didnt get any email but Speedtest.net showing 16.5 mbps this afternoon and BT test showing line speed of 21.1 and down;oad of 17.6 (compared with previous of 8.1 line and best download of 7ish.
  4. I saw the pre Christmas publicity regarding the higher speeds available. I use BT Broadband via a B Homehub3. I live a few hundred yards from the Lerwick exchange (assuming it hasnt moved from along past the big kirk) The BT speedchecker continues to show the line speed as 8.13 as before and at max I get 7+ and sometimes a lot less. Does anybody know if I have to do anything to get the higher speed or will it come automatically ?
  5. Turning back for a minute to the oil payments. I believe that the tonnage payments are irrelevant as the minimum quantities in the Agreement with the oil industry have never been reached and the amounts received are only the minimum payments index linked for inflation. Ian Clark had I understand left Shetland long before the Port & Harbour Agreement which secured the income was signed. Credit should go to the late Chris Ennis who was Finance Director from the mid 70s for the major agreements. Ian Clark's main legacy was environmental in securing the legislation which allowed planning control and ensured that there was only 1 oil terminal and harbour instead of each oil company building their own. Turning to the more recent controversy. I am still not convinced by the "afternoon off" for drinkies being authorised in advance, perhaps the possiblity of a cover up needs to be investigated and maybe there are grounds for dismissal for gross misconduct and surely the resignation of any officails or politicians who were found to have been involved in a cover up. This should remove the need for any financial settlement.
