FROM SHETLAND BOX OFFICE AT ISLESBURGH TEL: 01595 745555 ONLINE: www.shetlandboxoffice.org ON SALE FRIDAY 24TH MAY AT 9AM John Power has been a member in 2 of the best loved guitar bands in the UK over the past 3 decades. First of all Power was the bassist and backing vocalist in The La’s who had hits with Feelin’, Timeless Melody and the classic There She Goes in the early 90’s. After The La’s went into hibernation, Power remained in his hometown of Liverpool and recruited for a new band that he was to front. The band was called Cast and became one of the biggest bands of the Britpop era with hit singles such as Fine Time, Walk Away and Sand Storm culled from Platinum selling albums All Change and Mother Nature Calls. Now John Power is embarking on an acoustic tour with La’s guitarist, Jay Evans, to celebrate the rich back catalogue of both his former bands. A night of classic guitar tunes, combined with Power’s sharp scouse wit, guarantees that this is a show not to be missed!

  8. MYLO DJ SET + JOHN COLLINS + SAUL DAY MAREEL SATURDAY 22ND DECEMBER 9PM - 1AM TICKETS ON SALE AT SHETLAND BOX OFFICE IN PERSON AT MAREEL AND ISLESBURGH TEL. 01595 745555 www.shetlandboxoffice.org One of Scotland's most important dance producers heads north this weekend for a rare DJ gig. Electronic artist, Mylo, will play Klub Revolution at Mareel on Saturday 22nd December. Mylo first broke onto the UK dance scene in 2004 with his first single Drop The Pressure which went from being an underground club hit to a global top selling smash. His seminal debut album Destroy Rock and Roll followed in 2005 and earned universal critical acclaim as well as topping many of the end of year polls for album of the year. Mylo a.k.a. Myles MacInnes was brought up on the Isle of Skye and recorded Destroy Rock and Roll in it's entirety in his bedroom on the island. It was this DIY approach which surprised many in the music industry especially with the quality of material that Mylo was producing in such a remote location. Sony Records licensed the album and further singles Into My Arms and Muscle Car were released along with a reworked version of Drop The Pressure, Dr Pressure, which sampled Miami Sound Machine 80's hit Dr Beat. Mylo, now based in London, is also an in demand producer and has worked his magic on tracks by artists such as The Killers, Scissor Sisters and the late Amy Winehouse. Local DJ's Saul Day and John Collins will open the event which runs from 9pm - 1am. Tickets are on sale, priced £20, from Shetland Box Office at Mareel and Islesburgh and also online at http://www.shetlandboxoffice.org/ Klub Revolution will also be bringing DJ's Jason Cortez and Hacienda legend Graeme Park to Shetland over the coming weeks.

The View will now begin their winter tour in support of their new album, Cheeky For A Reason, at Mareel in Shetland on 15th December before heading back down the road to play sell out gigs at Glasgow Barrowlands and Dundee Caird Hall. We hope you all agree that The View are a more than worthy replacement for The Happy Mondays who unfortunately had to postpone their Shetland show and other European dates due to a medical matter concerning on the band. 14. We agreed a couple of weeks ago to go back to one show in Shetland in the hope that the band member in question would be fit enough to travel. However this week it has emerged that even playing the one show in Shetland is not an option and so the band have postponed all European dates from 30th November - 18th December. We're all absolutely gutted as it's taken a lot of work to convince the band to come here, and it is to the credit of Shetlanders coming out and buying expensive tickets to see the band, that they are extremely keen to get this show rescheduled in the new year.
  15. It is with great disappointment that we have to announce that the Happy Mondays show on December 15th has had to be postponed due to "unforeseen medical circumstances" affecting one of the band members. This situation had led the bands management to postpone most of the Euro tour and despite our best efforts to keep the sold out show going ahead on December 15th, it is not a feasible option. We are negotiating with the Happy Mondays management at the moment to reschedule the gig, however this is unlikely to be before next spring, so we will be offering refunds on tickets from Monday 26th November. ... We are discussing terms with another "name" band at the moment to take over the slot on December 15th, however at this moment we are unable to confirm whether this will be going ahead. Klub Revolution, Shetland Arts and The Happy Mondays would like to sincerely apologise for the major inconvenience caused by this unavoidable decision, especially for those who were travelling to Shetland for the show. We will bring news of a rescheduled date as soon as we can.
