  9. A Northern Soul Presents.... DODGY + FIRST FOOT SOLDIERS + KLUB REVOLUTION DJ'S ... ROYAL BRITISH LEGION, LERWICK FRIDAY 21st SEPTEMBER (Rescheduled from Saturday 12th May)... One of the most successful bands of the britpop era of the mid 90's head to Shetland as part of a tour to promote their first album in over a decade. The first time round, Dodgy were only together for seven years, but in that time they sold over a million records worldwide, released three albums and 12 Top 40 singles including ‘Staying Out For The Summer’, 'In A Room', ‘So Let Me Go Far’, ‘If You’re Thinking Of Me’ and the Top 5 hit ‘Good Enough’, all still a staple of radio playlists. They sold out the Brixton Academy... for three nights in a row and were awarded an unprecedented 90-minute Saturday evening slot on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury Festival in 1997 before headliners Radiohead. Now armed with a new album of brand new songs by Dodgy has been a long time coming but ‘Stand Upright In A Cool Place’ is well worth the wait. Deeper and more mature but with bigger choruses and stronger melodies, recorded over the summer of 2011 in an old farmhouse in Malvern and mixed by Matt Pence in Texas, the original members Nigel Clark, Andy Miller and Mathew Priest, have recorded their best work to date. Support will come from popular local covers outfit, First Foot Soldiers. Klub Revolution DJ's on hand to spin britpop tunes between bands. Tickets on sale from High Level Music on Saturday 18th August, priced at £12. Also available from Shetland Box Office - In person at Islesburgh Community Centre, online at www.shetlandboxoffice.org or telephone 01595 745555. 21. Unfortunately Dodgy have had to cancel their shows in Inverness and Shetland due to a bereavement close to the band. The funeral of their close friend is being held next weekend and understandably the band have been forced to cancel their north of Scotland shows in order to attend. First and foremost, A Northern Soul send their condolences to the band, who were looking forward to playing their first show in Shetland in front of a full capacity venue. A Northern Soul are working closely with the bands management in order to reschedule the show within the next 2 months, and hopefully an anouncement regarding a new show will be made in the next few days. The promoters have decided to go head with an event on Saturday 12th May which will now be headlined by First Foot Soldiers, who will be joined by Shetland's only Ska outfit, and recent battle of the band winners, MaSKArade. Completing the line-up of local talent will be Shetland alt country band North Country Fair. Anyone holding a ticket for Dodgy who would still like to attend will be given a £5 refund on entry, otherwise full refunds are available from High Level Music. Promoters, A Northern Soul, wish to apologise for any inconvenience caused by these tragic set of circumstances.
