I don't understand why my ping is so high! Not point in having 'faster' internet if my ping is awful.

Is it just me or has the internet been dreadful this weekend?#

Last night was great! Loads of people, good music, cheap drinks etc. But the bar queues... holy hell the bar queues. It was taking about an hour to get people served. 5 people to serve 600 folk? Ain't gonna work.

Using a wired connection improves speed by a small amount. Not enough for it to be some kind of answer.
And not the answer to the question I posed.
No proper test - no help.
1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information. Download Speed 1.18 Mbps 0 Mbps 7.15 Mbps Max Achievable Speed Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.18 Mbps For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps. Additional Information: Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM) IP Profile for your line is - 7.15 Mbps If you wish to discuss these results please contact your Broadband Service Provider. If you are experiencing problems with specific applications, servers or websites please contact your Broadband Service Provider for assistance. That's the wired connection.

I live in Lerwick within 50m of the exchange but the internet has become very, very poor from ~ 6pm-midnight.

If there is one hilarious thing I've always learned from conspiracy theorists, it's that YouTube videos count as academic evidence.

As I understand it, it's where all the bairns are going to be taught now after aa' the schools close.

Remember to come to the Digital Forum today if you want to have the opportunity to ask any questions to Brendan Dick of BT Scotland. Shetland Telecom will be there too!
Half twelve, Isleburgh.

Funny how people complain about the dangers of alternative sports like Parkour and Skateboarding yet would have their children play Football and Rugby...

The Graduate Placement Scheme was immensely useful for me personally, definitely propelling me on my way to where I am now. But I wouldn't hold out for getting anything permanent after the placement is finished; there's no money!

Shetlanders have been involved in those exact crimes. Every other week there's Shetlanders in the dock for drink driving for starters. Sounds to me like confirmation bias.

There's a lot of talk about Scalloway in this election, but remember that Central captures a much larger area than just Scalloway.
If I'm not mistaken, Tingwall, Burra, Nesting and white dale or ness all form part of that area.

As an atheist myself, I wouldn't encourage you to instill atheism in your child. Teach them logic, reason and common sense and they'll come to that conclusion anyway but be armed with the tools to improve their lives.

I believe councils should be a damn sight more robust in their dealings with 'problem' tenants.
This view often appeals to people from the sort of 'revenge' motive. As in, "they have been problematic, why not just hang them out to dry"? But the problem is that this only exacerbates the problem. A more "robust" approach would actually involve more help and support for the problem tenants, if you really wanted to help them.
Cut their benefits? Higher chance they'll turn to crime
Kick them out of their housing? as above
Jail them? as above again (and even easier access to drugs)

My poor neck!

To be fair though,
I'm sure we're all expecting Shetland Arts Trust to be pushing for something BIG for the opening of the Venue!
Here's hoping..
I heard that they were going to have a whole month of events.
