  1. From Japanese hula dancers to Javanese capoeira performers, belly dancers and Balinese musicians, the festival was a showcase of world cultures, topped off by a spectacular finale of fireworks and the burning of a Viking ship — a Gaelic tradition known as Up Helly Aa, commemorating the arrival of Vikings in Scotland in the 8th century.

    Hmm, "Gaelic"?

  2. Excellent find. I remember it well, as well as the laserdisc burner that went around with it.

Looking through some of the entries I do wonder if one of them is mine but I did find this bit particularly amusing:-

    There are approximately 16 army

personell staying in our area. Some of

their work is done at the Early

Warning Station to the north of our

area. The rest of their work is done

    at their social club.

Don't know how much "work" went on at the Social Club!

  3. very strange ford transit truck going around two fellas very suspicious

Yup, you're right, a Ford Transit that goes anywhere at all unless on the end of a rope is a strange one. Maybe its a Merc disguised as a Transit.

    Stranger things have happened...

  4. The same Terms & Conditions and Guidelines apply to this topic as they do any other on the forum.

We don't lock topics willy nilly and we appreciate freedom of speech as much as the next person. Usually a topic will only be deleted/locked if there is a chance that we will be threatened with legal action or the thread descends into childish taunts and bickering.

Feel free to discuss the Scottish Elections in a grown-up fashion and I am sure that the thread will flourish!

  5. I think its just plain wrong and ads like these should be removed!!

We do remove them when we find the time. Classifieds aren't high up the list of priorities just now and I do wonder if it would be just as easy to remove the functionality altogether. Would people complain less or more?

Good luck to all those who got tickets, saw them at the Music Hall a good few years back, fully enjoyed it.

  6. Do you have anything plugged in to the usb next to the drive? Try shifting to a separate usb port and if the usb ports are on a flylead/case mounted then check that the cable is sitting snugly in the mobo.

I would also check to see if there are any BIOS updates available. It might be a known issue.

  7. My apologies for not going back to the very first post to translate the nom-de-plumes of the SIC officers who are no doubt giving good value to rate-payer by posting on Shetlink.

First rule of forum etiquette. If you are going to air your views at least take the time to check out the first post in the thread if you can't be bothered to read the whole thing.

If you feel so strongly about this issue then it might do you some good to actually take the time out to read the thread though.

I personally couldn't care whether you agree or don't agree with this idea but from my viewpoint I think it is a step in the right direction. It gives people an area where they can voice their concerns and the slim possibility of somebody actually taking action.

A bit better than the prior offering is it not?
