I never thought on that maybe I'll get to be the bridesmaid either that or I'd need to get a hat

all of the above replies are excellent. She says ask Melman if he wants a wife (assuming you are male!) She is now staying till Sunday then further updates on a day to day basis.

She is a very hard worker. She won't be long withoot a job. And me going on Shetlink won't a problem as I can shut my ears to anything going on all aroond me
-
My sister in law has a dilema she came up for UHA and is due to go away on the boat tomorrow night now (as always) she doesn't want to go. So as I am sitting here scrolling through Shetlink she asks me to decide so I'm asking all you Shetlinkers instead.
P.S she is not too bad to live with and tends to be a bit of a party animal.

^^^ you gonna lose her if u don't stop heavy drinking. You should have a monthly blow oot wi your pals and get hammered but if you want the girl and think she's worth it then do it. Set the ground rules and have time for your pals as well. And this comment IS'NT meant to be derogatory but try and grow up.

The road to Eid school today was ok (in Eid) but you have to look at the bigger picture in this weather. I was so glad I lived across the road fae the school when my son was younger as I would have been a wreck if he had to travel fae some of the places in the westside to Eid. It's been snowin here again not too heavy though.

Sister in law and sons girlfriend made this today. Still on UHA mode!

Yeah the Bixter brae and top o Twatt are the worst. At the top near to the hydro substation the wind blows the snow and it tends to drift into big lumps there. I've been stuck there many times over the years! Hope everyone gets hame safe. I'm glad am not oot in it as hubby just came in and said temperature is -5!
-
This info may be a bit late Khit but my son tried to get to Lerwick fae Eid this morning and had to turn back. He says it was the drifts that made the roads impassable at the top of Twatt, Tresta on the west side, going down towards Weisdale and as far up as the Westings. He never tried to go back once he was hame. He said the Bixter brae was better coming back than going oot.

I went to see the daytime procession for the first time in aboot 10 years as my sister in law was here for her first UHA. I too was amazed at the crowds. I thouroughly enjoyed the day procession and will go again if I am able.

^^^^ yumm I know whit they tasted like many moons ago. Hubby and I were in Oban last summer an found a shop that sold lucky tatties and I was greedy an bought a few an other than the smell and look they were like bricks. No the saft ones I can mind. But like Para Handy said I might just be gettin old and need new teeth as well
-
Para Handy maybe thats the problem I'm getting old! Had the zimmer care centre next! My relations in Canada can't get enough Cadburys chocolate when they're here they say the chocolate there is different.
-
You can still get the sherbet and liquorice and blackjacks as I have some and I'm gonna eat them tonight. I see Tesco have got the Birds Eye frozen mousse in. I loved them when I was younger and bought them funny but they tasted different.

Going away a lot wi the athletics we always try and lie doon an have a packet of crisps nearby to line wir stomachs. And as I get sick this method works for me. My sister in law is on the boat on Thursday night so she might be in for a bumpy trip. Glad it's no me.

Are you going to add a no to the poll question? My opinion for what it's worth I think it's up to the individual squads and any femaled who would want to take part. I personally wouldn't wish to take part. I also dont think it would be the demise of Lerwick UHA if they allowed females to join in.

I agree aboot the sun visor things. Why oh why are they designed the way they are. I remember seeing a car that had a bit that was added on it looked a bit like tinted plastic. It looked naff but would probably help with the low winter sun.

I think I do consider other road users as I try to pull into laybys etc for really impatient drivers but as I said I'll stick to doing 50ish mph as I'm comfortable with that.
-
Yep driving here can be marvelous but in my recent experience being blinded and tailed for a few miles isn't. I for one will continue to drive at the speeds I am comfortable with which is mostly 50mph. I have driven for over 20 years and touch wood have not had an accident. Oh I shouldn't have said that oot loud
-
I too seen a learner driver being overtaken and I was on the opposite side and my heart was in my mouth as the car coming towards me could easily have hit me. Some drivers have absolutely no consideration for others especially learners. They were all born with their licenses I suppose.
-
Para Handy the car is mine and as you said it does take a bit of getting used to. It can be used with feet control as well. It was the first time I'd gone any distance myself. I was freaked oot by the thoughtlessness of the van driver and I only got the name of the company. Whilst I've been getting ferried aroond the place and been the passenger I've seen a few close encounters with the " white van men or ladies " I used to think it was buses and taxis that were the cutting up/ I own the road culprits but my thoughts have changed.

It took my sis best part o 45mins to get here to eid fae waas wi the bairns as the eid and happyhansel schools are shut an she had to get to work in lerwick. I had an appointment for physio in lerwick this mornin and have cancelled as I am too scared to drive to toon. I have only been drivin my new car since december so I'd rather be safe and have a pyjama party with the disney channel (7yr olds idea) the fire blazin and my book. But to all that need to go oot an aboot today take care and get hame safe.
