  1. Just to let potential ticket buyers for Matt Cardle's 2nd show show know how the sales are set up for this Saturday so you can possibly decide what buying method is best for you. There will be 500 at High Level Music and 750 on-line at Ticketmaster and Beyondit.net The bigger % of online sales will be through Ticketmaster. Hope this helps!!!
  2. I'm happy to bring anything (within reason) to Shetland that has good potential to sell a suitable amount of tickets and that folk might want to see - seeing as we do this on a totally commercial basis. I don't just promote the music I personally like thank heavens!!! Sadly it's not as easy as just ringing them up and saying "Do you fancy playing Shetland......." Wish to God it was that easy!!! When it comes to the bigger names we can only make ourselves and what we do and have to offer here known and then hope for the best I'm afraid!!!
  3. Just announcing a second concert in the Clickimin Centre with X Factor winner Matt Cardle - this one on Sunday 25th September at 7.30 - following his sell-out show in the Clickimin Centre on the 24th. Again the show will be with his full band. Tickets on sale this Saturday 3rd Sept at 9am from High Level Music (please note these are cash sales only) and from Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.co.uk or www.beyondit.net. PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE NO SALES FOR THIS CONCERT VIA SEETICKETS AND ALSO WE CANNOT RESERVE TICKETS FOR YOU AT HIGH LEVEL MUSIC UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES - SO PLEASE DON'T ASK AND PUT THE STAFF THERE IN A DIFFICULT POSITION. Tickets are £20 - restricted to 4 per person and all under 14's must be accompanied by an adult. Hopefully this announcement will also beat the tickets touts Sorry to those of you who may have felt the need to buy ones for the Saturday from them at inflated prices, but we could not announce this show till everything was agreed and in place e.g an agreement with him and his management / agent, the venue, the production people, the ticket sellers etc etc. Rest assured we moved as quickly as we could under the circumstances (given it was over a weekend too) to get everything in place for this, once we saw how the sales went on Saturday. Thanks again for the great support / sales and for helping make this happen in this way.
  4. Cheers for all the support folks. Most of you will ken I'm far fae being an X Factor fan, but I still enjoy taking show's to Shetland that WILL appeal to a wide range o folk. Delighted to see so many young folk getting excited ower this wan. Here's to a good night whatever your personal taste in music
  5. Thanks Shetlink - as always
  6. Togo - I totally agree and am equally disgusted at such folk!! Not a lot we can do about it I'm afraid - officially that is - but if there is some way I can 'pay them back' for this kind of approach in future (if we find out who they are of course) then rest assured such action will be taken against them for another occasion. For now I simply hope Shetlink will honour what they have done for us in the past and remove such 'adverts' from this site. Cheers if you will do this for us lads!!!
  7. Matt C tickets all sold out now I'm afraid. Thanks to everyone who bought in such numbers - amazing!!!! Just to clarify everything BEFORE the usual rumours and accusations start: On-line tickets did indeed go on sale at 9am this morning - no they most certainly did not go on sale any earlier!!!! Yes they sold out IMMEDIATELY on-line - even though I 'moved' another 350 onto the ticket websites from our originally planned High Level sales numbers pre 9 o clock when I saw the actual queue at High Level was much much smaller than expected. Rest assured we tried to be equally fair to our on-line customers in this resepect when we saw there was going to be less demand for direct sales through High Level at 9am than expected Of course they can sell out on these national ticket websites in less than 1 minute - even if you were indeed trying right on 9am - given if (for instance) 1000+ people log on immediately at 9am, the system will only process the first customers up to 650 tickets (given sales were limited to 4 per person) A total of 650 tickets were ultimately available online this morning and 600 sold through High Level Music EVERYONE who was in the queue at 9am got tickets and we only sold out there at 9.45 Sorry to those who failed to get tickets on-line but that's how the system works I'm afraid. On-line demand was MASSIVE I can assure you!!!! Ticketmaster, Seetickets etc can obviously deal simoultaneously with massive amounts of demand, but just because you successfully log on at 9am does NOT necessarily mean or guarantee that you will get tickets unfortunately. So to clarifty, the sites did not: (A) Fail ( Sell tickets before 9am © Have less tickets than we originally advertised on line (indeed we added 350 more pre 9am) (D) Hold any tickets back. I've heard all the above 'observations' already this morning and none are accurate I can assure you Demand was incredible for this one so a million thanks for all the interest and here's to a great show for those of you who did manage to get tickets. Davie Gardner
  8. Yes indeed Ticketmasters info is a bit all over the place I'm afraid. It is indeed open to everyone but as it says here under 14's have to be accompanied by an adult. The event is licensed. Total tickets on sale are 1250 - 800 of which are in High Level and the rest online. Adjustments can be made tomorrow morning if one or other turns out to be the main or most popular sales route. Concert is basically standing but there will be bleacher seating for around 250 folk. I can also confirm this is a full band show with a top quality PA being brought in from Glasgow and our ususal high standard of lighting provided by local company Technical Production Services. Hope this helps answer all the questions. Glad so many folk are excited about this one - especially younger audiences. Their turn this time around!!!!
  9. Just to inform everyone that Matt Cardle (winner of X Factor 2010) will be playing the Clickimin Centre on 24th September with his full band as part of a very short Scottish tour ahead of his new single and album being release in October and his full UK tour later this year. 3 gigs only this time around. Shetland, Orkney and Inverness. Tickets go on sale from High Level Music at 9am this Saturday 27th August priced £20 Also available from: Ticketmaster on 08444 999990 or www.ticketmaster.co.uk Beyond Promotions at www.beyondit.net Seetickets at www.seetickets.com Sadly neither I nor High Level cannot reserve tickets for anyone under ANY circumstances. Sorry about that. Cheers for noo Davie Gardner Atlantic Edge Music Services
  10. Thanks to everyone who came to the gig on Wednesday night, created a fantastic atmosphere in the hall and made a memorable night for those of us involved with the gig and rest assured for the band themselves as well. They were delighted with their trip to Shetland and with the reception they got both at the gig and while they were here in general. It very much looks like they will be back at sometime in the future. And finally the secret gig. No it's not in Shetland I can assure you. I've no idea where it is but it's not here that's for sure. Cheers again and watch this space for more gigs - hopefully in the not too distant future.
  11. Isn't it ironic (I'll settle for that word) that since Clive announced he was selling up, the shop has been it's busiest for ages. I will leave my comments at that I think
  12. Just to let everyone know that there's still a few tickets for the Al Murray (Pub Landlord) 'Barrel of Fun' tour gig in the Clickimin Centre on 9th June on Ticketmaster and Seetickeets websites. Shetland Box Office is sold out though.
  13. Confirm that young up-and-coming Scottish singer/ songwriter Rachel Sermanni is the support for Mumfords. Sorry to all the local hopefuls this time around. And yes she performs with full band or solo. This is solo this time around, but the if demand is there I'll be happy to look at taking her back with the full band in the future.
  14. Mine too actually. And mine I'm sad to say. Rest assured what may look like a good, simple idea from someone to solve an issue, is often much much more complex than anyone might imagine, physically, technically, legally and most importantly financially. And remember Radio Shetland is not Radio Shetland in itself, but our national BBC Radio Scotland station of course. I'm not going to bother going into further detail on this one, but in order to ensure that a trickle of an idea on here doesn't (once again) turn into a public tsunami of demand, rest assured this simply cannot happen for a number of very good and sound reasons. If it could it would have been thought of before rest asssured.
  15. PS Hope the hang-over is better noo and there's no need to eat any more humble pie when du's feeling rough already
  16. Fair play to de Ally and as I say the earlier apology from de wis already accepted along with what du says here. Cheers!! I've made my point(s) re the issue and now that's history too mate!! No damage apparently done.... We all do and say things on the spur of the moment we subsequently regret once we think a bit deeper about things (or better still know the true facts) and this is quite simply one of those occasions. Let's be honest we've all done that - myself very much included. I totally accept it was a no offence intended, throw away remark - which on the surface may even have seemed to have some substance at the time. That's been put to rights by both of us now so let's leave it there for sure.
  17. Can I just thank 'Ally' for his quick reply and his apology which I of course fully accept and respect. However, posting anything of this nature, even jokingly, does lead to wildfire local rumour and misunderstandings, especially when you apparently also 'evidence' your argument - as on this particular occasion re the ticket numbers. Once someone reads something like this they usually accept it as fact. If in future anyone has any concerns re anything of this nature that I'm involved with, please have the guts to contact me direct on the subject before you choose to go into public and anonymous print of any kind on it. Cold and upset or not!!!! If you then still have a genuine grevience then please feel free to go for it and me!!!! Had this 'rumour' got back to the promoter on the mainland - and more so to the bands management - it's not overstating the issue to say that some very serious questions would have, initially at least, been asked of me. And had I not been in a position to answer them effectively and honestly (with appropriate evidence) it could actually have still put the whole gig at risk - not to mention my personal reputation with the bands powers-that-be for any future promotions of this kind. Think about it - in their minds I might well have been holding back THEIR tickets to sell on the black market for my own personal profit rather than giving them to a clique of any kind as was suggested here. Please think of the potential damage insinuations, rumours or even jokes such as this can do BEFORE you go into public print in future. And as to the defination of the work "joke" - cheers for this I'm now totally clear on that one. It was a new word on me
  18. The forensic analysis of every aspect of this matter is unbelievable. People seem to be thinking as if it was some sort of council house allocation exercise where fairness has been trampled upon. It wasn't. It was a relatively routine commercial arrangement where some individuals were prepared to go the extra mile for free. For doing so, they are being wrongly accused of things. Incredible. As for the illiteracy topic, point noted concerning the appropriate thread. Well said EM
  19. It seems that, as said, this was totally out of DG hands. Though with hindsight ( a most splendid thing) someone could have pointed that out. If they did, and it was ignored then shame on the promoter, I hope the band is told. And why HLM? Good as I know they are. As I say I had a number of discussions with disabled people looking for tickets and told them the provisions being made for them. They were either happy with this or got tickets through others queuing for them or whatever. To the best of my belief all I spoke to managed to secure tickets. If they decided to queue we took their tickets down the steps to them. As I say I also set out the plan - and the difficulties - to Disability Shetland and they were more than happy with this. So in short we did think of this.
  20. All possible arrangements were made for the disabled or infirm in this respect - outwith giving them preferential ticket sales. This was both discussed and agreed with Disability Shetland themselves no less.
  21. Sales were stricly on a direct buy only. Yes we could have done that from the Box Office too but the request was to use a small local outlet and I often use HLM for this. There were no phone or online sales so it mattered not a jot where we sold them from.
  22. Jesus what next!!! Do some people live on here simply to gripe and bloody moan about everything. First your description of the mess is totally over the top. But for your information arrangements were made to ensure the mess was all cleaned up from the outset as I envisaged this was likely to happen. The council were involved and were there immediately after the tickets were sold and EVERYTHING was cleaned up less than ten minutes later. Cheers for that lads!!! The police were also kept fully informed throughout and also helped from the outset. They had no complaints during the night that came back to me - so cheers to them too. HLM made no profit whatsoever from the ticket sales. They offered their services for free and indeed I suspect we disrupted their normal sales for a half hour at least. "Their busiest day of the year so far". What utter crap!!! They opened at 9am and the tickets were gone by 9.20. A pretty short day by anyone's standards!!!! Mind you one guy did buy a plectrum as well as a ticket - so they did really well there The other comment on the Whiteness and Weisdale hall is such utter nonsense I'm not even going to comment on it!!!!!
  23. Some folk really do lower themselves on this forum and subject. ABSOLUTELY NO TICKETS WERE KEPT BACK FOR ANYONE. My own son and his girlfriend queued from 5.30 PM to get his ones along with everyone else. I no longer work for Shetland Arts and they have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with this gig. The reason for the ticket number issue you mention is that the tickets were sold from three seperate books by three seperate people in the shop so ticket 370 could well have been sold much earlier than some of the others - especially given that the final book (with ticket 370 in it) only had 20 tickets in it. Ticket numbers 1 - 370 were all sold in the shop this morning. What you very publicly insinuate here is total nonsense - joking or not!!! That's how vicious rumours get started!!!! I do not work like that, never have and it's a shame you choose to comment on something in this fashion you clearly know damn all about. Right rant over!!!!
  24. Cheers guys. I just wish everyone would take the same attitude as you. It's been a long day
