  1. The idea that someone is walking around with the specific intent of looking for dog feces just to spray paint them, is more concerning to me than the actual problem of people not picking up after their dogs.

Seriously, what kind of person is that obsessed with this problem?

  2. I'm finding the ADSL2+ slower than our old ADSL connections... Any ideas?...

Well, I think with 6.9Mb download and 1.09Mb upload, most people will suggest "be thankful and stop whingeing"

You say Plusnet only moved you over a few days ago. Have you actually followed their advice of giving the system time to learn to stabilise your line?

Trust me, it doesn't feel like 6.9Mbit down due to the fluctuations.

I wasn't actually given any advice at all. They just said to me I'd get moved over and that's that. But if it's a case of waiting, then that's fine. I just wanted to see if anyone else was having any problems, that's all :)

  3. I'm finding the ADSL2+ slower than our old ADSL connections. I got moved over to the 21CN network by Plusnet a few days ago and my connection has some serious problems sustaining any kind of decent speeds.

Speedtest (slower than what I used to get, no where near what I should be...)

Steam download chart, just stopping at random. Doesn't matter what time of day I attempt to do this at.

Any ideas? I'm baffled to be honest.

  4. Not surprised anybody is confused about computer specs to be honest. The IT market goes to great lengths to keep the general public confused. That way they will keep on spending money on machines with power that they will never actually use.

Intel decided to 'streamline' their processor range by bringing out the i3, i5 and i7 processors. Simple really....

    i3 is Entry Level

    i5 is Mid Range

    i7 is Pro

Except it isn't. Each processor has a range within it. Some of the i5 processors are faster than the i7's. The end consumer doesn't realise this, and they have no need to.

I do take exception to tha fact that Intel processors are miles better than AMD's without any explanation. As the two main CPU manufacturers out there, they both tend to take turns as to who has the fastest/bestest chips around. Sometimes Intel has the stronghold, sometimes AMD does. Neither are worse in that respect, it just depends what is available on the market at the time.

That doesn't even work any more either. Even low end i3 Ivy Bridge chips are staggeringly more powerful than anything "entry level" that we've ever had before.

Oh and yeah, stay the hell away from AMD chips. Single core performance even on their fastest chips is utterly pathetic. It's a real shame, AMD used to be a great cheap alternative before the Core 2 age.

  5. Scrabble is available for all Android devices running 2.1 and higher... Unfortunately, Electronic Arts owns the rights to the Scrabble game and does not have the rights to sell it in the UK due to strange legal issues. I'd imagine this is why it's not available on the iPad either.

Also, don't buy a Samsung Galaxy Tab. They're terrible. Buy an Asus Nexus 7.

  6. Its just im finding we are getting quiet a bit of ghosting and don't think our scart cable is to great so hoping a hd cable might help

Also i noticed with all cables they have different sized connectors at end so wanna make sure i get right one

I don't think the cable was ever the problem, Technika buy older panels from companies like LG, Panasonic, Samsung and Sony. Quite frankly when it comes to TV's you get what you pay for. The more you pay the better the set (generally speaking).

  7. Thanks folks for the replys.

I will look into satellite - anyone used/using this already? It would be useful to hear about experiences.

Satellite is more reliable (in theory) than using BT for your internet access. But it's not quick and your upload will be staggeringly terrible due to latency.

To be honest, the BT solution is the best we're going to get until they (or someone else) finally starts to provide fibre connections to residential properties.
