  1. Train To Wales have been added to the bill for this event.
  2. North Country Fair have been added to the bill at Posers on Saturday 11th April.
  3. Two up-and-coming local bands will be playing together for the first time in the Bixter Hall on the 4th of April. Tequila Mockingbird - primarily a covers band - will play their unusual mix of 80s, 90s and 00s rock, punk and indie which has proven to be quite a hit throughout Shetland, especially when they supported DC/79 back in February. If you like everything from the Foo Fighters to Franz Ferdinand, The Killers to Creedence Clearwater and The Eels to Therapy? they are certainly worth checking out. Pets in Jars have had a run of gigs throughout Shetland and recently went down a storm at the Rock Vs Rave night in Aith organised by the young promoters group. Any band that turns up to their first gig complete with a debut EP deserves some respect and these young lads have come a long way since then. With a strong stage presence and a good mix of original and cover material they are sure to entertain. Train To Wales have made a late entry to the bill. The prolific three piece have found themselves all together home in Shetland so have decided to dust off the gigging gear and venture to the wild west. Doors for the event open at 9.30pm and the live music will start at 10pm. Please come early to support both bands. Entry - £6 at the door For More Info visit http://www.bebo.com/TEKMOK http://www.bebo.com/pets-in-jars http://www.bebo.com/Train-To-Wales http://www.bebo.com/anspromotions PROOF OF AGE REQUIRED AT THE BAR
  4. The room would have to be darkened to see it properly.
  5. We've hired ones from Islesburgh in the past, so you could try there.
  6. Here's some footage of Chris playing Love Is The Law solo in Paisley
  7. Unfortunately this show has been cancelled and will hopefully be rescheduled for later in the year. ANS apologise for any inconvenience caused.
  8. The lead singer from one of the 90’s top indie bands ventures north next month for 2 intimate acoustic gigs in the isles. Chris Helme will play the Northern Lights function room in Brae on Friday 10th April followed by a show at Posers Nightclub in Lerwick on Saturday 11th. Helme fronted The Seahorses, the band put together by Stone Roses guitar legend, John Squire, from 1996 until they disbanded in 1999. Although The Seahorses career was brief, the band enjoyed huge commercial success with 2 top 10 singles, most notably their debut 45 Love Is The Law, and a number 2 album with 1997’s Do It Yourself. Following the demise of The Seahorses, Helme formed a new band called The Yards along with ex-Seahorses bassist Stuart Fletcher and they released their self-titled debut album in 2005. Last year Helme released his debut solo album entitled Ashes. The album showcased Helme’s love of folk and blues with its sparse production highlighting the singer-songwriters rich vocals and intricate guitar playing. Providing support for Chris Helme will be 2 of Shetland’s top young singer-songwriters with Antonia Sedgewick opening at the Northern Lights and Jordan Ogg doing the honours at Posers. The Klub Revolution DJ’s will also be on hand to provide after-show entertainment at Posers. Doors will open at 8pm for both shows and promoters have asked that people attending come early to support the local performers. The promoters, A Northern Soul, would also like to thank Mark Anderson from Allied Taxis for kindly providing sponsorship for the shows. Tickets are on sale now from both venues priced at £7. For more info on Chris Helme check out his website at www.myspace.com/chrishelmesolo

  11. A NORTHERN SOUL & KALEIDOSCOPE PRESENT JASON CORTEZ One of the UK's top DJ's, and a regular visitor to Shetland, heads north next weekend for a highly anticipated show. The ever-popular Jason Cortez makes his first appearance of 2009 in the isles at the Mid Yell Hall next Saturday (21st February). Jason Cortez needs no introduction to dance fans in Shetland having previously played in Shetland no less than 7 times in the past including a sell-out show for the final night of the North Star. Cortez is arguably Scotland's busiest DJ, not only with a busy diary of gigs around the world, but also running his own club night in Edinburgh (Nuklear Puppy). Tickets are on sale now, priced at £10, from the Ulsta Shop in Yell and High Level Music in Lerwick. There will be a bus in Yell meeting the 8.15pm ferry from Toft, going to the hall and returning to the 2am ferry at Ulsta. Booking is essential for both bus and ferry by calling 01957 722259 (ferry) and 07887671989 (bus). www.bebo.com/anspromotions

  16. One of the country's top AC/DC tribute bands venture north early next month to make their debut in Shetland. DC/79 will play the Symbister Hall in Whalsay on Friday 6th February followed by a show at Norscot Angling Club in Lerwick on the 7th. 2008 saw AC/DC enjoying an amazing resurgence in popularity thanks to a sell-out world tour and their first number 1 album for 28 years with Black Ice. Don't expect DC/79 to play any tracks from the last album, or any album post-1970's, as their show focuses entirely on the AC/DC era which featured lead singer Bon Scott. Support for both gigs comes from up-and-coming local rockers Tequila Mockingbird. Tickets for the Symbister Hall are available from Irvine's Shop in Whalsay and High Level Music in Lerwick, whilst tickets for the Norscot date can be purchased from the venue and also High Level Music. You can find out more info about DC/79 at www.dc79.co.uk
