  1. You could also try Appliance Rescue if it helps.

Have you tried George Robertsons I don't think they work with Hotpoint but anything electrical thats broken in my house I always call them and they are usually there the next day or the following day if they are busy, they always seem keen to help, you could try explaining your situation, you never know!

  2. When you find one you have to give them the address of Streamline in Aberdeen, contact the Lerwick branch and they will give you the address. You will have to pay about 30 to 40 quid to get it here but thats just the price.

Most online retailers dont differentiate between islands of the uk, the UK is the UK - id really try to find one that doesnt charge excess postage or even free to shetland like ebuyer or those already mentioned

I tried 7 or 8 fifferent companies who certainly did differentiate between islands, they just didn't send to any islands if your credit card is addressed to your home.

Just for the record I just purchased my television on Monday so this problem is certainly current!!

  3. I've got quite a bit of experience buying televisions from the internet as the local shop here is quite extortionate and unhelpful. I don't bother with the hydro because their service is quite poor so you have no other option but to buy south. Go onto pricerunner type in the model of television you want then you will get a list of companies with user ratings next to them. Make your choice from there, you may have to phone a few companies until you find one that will accept your credit card without having to send to your billing address as most do. By the way the best price for my plasma and the easiest way to go was use AV ADDICTS. I had to do a BACS (CHAPS) payment through the bank but it was quite easy to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm out of breathe!!!! Good Luck.

  4. Even if Hjatland or anyone else thought that re-opening the Star was a good idea the whole place was virtually torn apart with the old projector room being demolished to get the projectors out. The bar was stripped, fire alarms taken out and all that kinda stuff so this idea is 'Pie in the Sky' I'm afraid.

  5. Thats a total myth by the way! I've been in squads for nearly 16 years now and have very seldom heard or experienced anything like that! Granted there maybe the odd occassion when these trysts might be organised beforehand by consenting adults but generally I don't believe that happens very often. Maybe I'm either unlucky or ugly or maybe both! :D

  6. I had the same problems with John Lewis a couple of years ago and ended up having to draw a line under it and buying a new machine locally.

I know some people may not have the ability to go and do this but to be perfectly honest I wish I had just bought locally in the first place as it was quite surprisingly as cheap as buying off the internet to get your appliance delivered and installed in your home. The shop staff were excellent to deal with, the delivery men went out their way to install the machine in a tricky area and the company have an excellent reputation locally for a great back up service, hence I have bought a whole new range of Zanussi Built-in kitchen appliances and am delighted with my service and BILL! All in all my advice would be to buy locally next time and save a lot of hassle.

p.s - Go and buy a Sunday Post today and give them a phone they will have it sorted in a couple of weeks.

  7. Well I'm away to Prague tomorrow been moving house the past couple of weeks and been busy at work so not had much time to prepare or arm myself with knowledge of whats best to see, eat or entertainment etc. so if you have a few spare minutes HELP!!!

Staying for 5 nights in the centre of Prague, seems to be around 20 degrees at the moment through the day but it will probably be quite cold at night. Thanks for the help.

  8. Anybody go to the Exhibition over the weekend? I thought there was quite a good range of products and some good deals going at the show show although some of the building companies had quite a lot of space. Shetland Office Supplies seemed to have quite an array of computers on show although i'm no techno buff!

    Anybody got any comments?

  9. Going to prague in a few months for 4 or 5 days! Anyone got any suggestions for a nice, central place to stay?

I would like somewhere quite nice, don't mind paying for it as longs as it's not too cheap or not too expensive.

  10. I Have to say that I bought a new kitchen a couple of months ago and after much shopping around including the net the best service I received and the best prices by far came from Geordie Robertsons, they were nearly a grand cheaper than anyone else on the island and just about matched the internet prices and that included delivering and installing, just brilliant I would recommend them to anyone. Also all the shop staff were really pleasant and the boys who helped me to chose what I wanted and needed were really fine and understanding. Long may it continue and how nice it is to see young folk trying their best to make a go of things! :D

  11. I put a new kitchen into the house the other month, after shopping around at LBC, Hays and the internet( I really wanted to buy local - so many problems buying bigger things from doon sooth) I went for a look at Geordie Robertsons on the Hillhead and they could offer me all my kitchen appliances for around a thousand pound cheaper than anywhere else! As I am quite fussy they had to order some of the appliances and 3 weeks later everything was fitted and tested brilliantly by the 2 guys delivering it. Brilliant and the shop staff seemed to take a great interest in what I wanted and what my needs were, so I would recommend them to anyone!

    8) :D

  12. So it seems the big lad has got his wish! good on him but its a pity he didn't join someone else to make the competition a bit fairer maybe the Banks or the Malakoff!!!

Continuing from my earlier post about this where I suggested that he was in the wrong and made a silly decision, give him a few games ban and maybe even fine Delting a token sum! and let everyone get on with it after all this is amateur football, not proffesional, so its good to see a very skilled Shetland football player doing what he does best! Lets hope he doesn't have too much success we need a bit of a challenge in Shetland football now because the Delting team at present and for the last 6 or 7 year are just to damn good!!

    THE END. :D
