On a related note, can anyone recommend a website with accurate sea condition reports from around Scotland please?

I think you will find that Lerwick is the only area in Shetland where you can hire a bike.
-
Apparently bikes are not allowed to be carried on public transport busses in Shetland.
-
The real repositories of Shetland’s local history and heritage are the local centres such as Unst Heritage Centre, Da Auld Haa, Tangwick Haa, Hoswick, Croft House museum etc. All these are managed and staffed by volunteers whose efforts get little recognition and are constantly struggling for funding to keep going. The money that was wasted on massaging the egos of a few by restoring Belmont and paying for its further upkeep would have been better spent supporting the local centres.

What if there was no hypothetical questions.
Then there could be no hypothetical answers

To pretend as in make-believe is 'mak-on' in Shetlan.

On the face of their antics in the media the Liberal Democrats are in for a soaking with several candidates jumping ship - yesterday one of their longest serving MSPs was saying what a good First Minister Salmond would make!! - You just couldn’t make it up. Hardly a ringing endorsement of Tavish and his manifesto that’s bereft of any fresh policies or ideas.

Possibly the connection to the tap underneath the basin has been originally put on cross-thread that's why it has come loose - may be as well to get a plumber.
-
As already mentioned, blatant illegal parking in a safe place should suffice.
There is a lot of blatant illegal parking in Lerwick every day and nothing happens so I'm not sure that one more will make much difference.

Seems nothing has been learned from the central heating fiasco of a few years back.

It's the purple sacks you get for kerbside recycling. If this is not available in your area you can collect bags from the Gremista dump and return them there.

I think I'll just save a gallon of petrol and leave them in the black bag for the essy-cart - that's what I pay rates for. It is up to the dairy to use environmentally friendly containers.
-
Questions
(a) do these new plastic cartons (made from hydrocarbons) go to landfill or are they incinerated?
Apparently it is quite profitable for the Gremista dump to put plastic bottles south for recycling so make sure you put yours in the correct bag otherwise they will be incinerated.
What's the correct bag? Like the original Ford I only have a choice of one colour and that's black.
-
If you take into account the amount of milk lost through leakage and the amount of chemical detergent that has to be used by law to clean up said spills not just at the dairy but at all the shops, you can be fairly sure that these new cartons are much better for the environment.
Glass is better still

( are they more or less environmentally friendly than the old waxed-cardboard ones?

I suggest you contact Scottish OUSA for advice - there used to be a OUSA Branch in Shetland when I did OU courses. see http://www8.open.ac.uk/platform/news-and-features/ousa-in-scotland-march-2011-newsletter
and can advise on any SIC grants
this e-mail address may still be valid

Agree totally with Para Handy, Vince Cable said on the news tonight that no government in the world changes policies because of street protests. This is happening in most countries, the cutbacks were needed everywhere.
Discredited, promise reneger Cable has a short memory - he's obviously forgotten the poll tax riots
-
Don't like the new site also their journalism standards are slipping.
-
I haven't had any dealings with them but I'd be very wary before committing.
If you are after a professional qualification then you should check with the appropriate professional body (or employer) to see if they recognise qualifications from this specific college.
Good luck.

Scottish skier posts a remarkable lack of knowledge of Scottish and Shetland history and confuses the late medieval with the 400 years of Scots oppression from 16thC Lord of Shetland Robert Stewart onwards through the exploitation, serfdom and clearances imposed by Scots merchants and lairds.
Scottish skier should be aware that Grimond’s ZCC Act got through Westminster on the vote of English Tory MPs – the Scottish Office was against the ZCC Act and all the Scottish Labour MPs voted against it.
