Can't UHA be one thing we keep positive?
-
I believe it's the local businesses. Squads etc buy their own suits etc. I think the program says who has donated usually.

What time is the morning procession and evening one?!
-
I was just curious. I am not applying. Although even if I wasnt married last year I wouldnt have needed to be brave as my partner made all the decisions anyway.
anyone thinking to apply??
-
I have heard rumors about 'DOnt tell the Bride' looking to do one in SHetland? is this true?
-
has anyone been to the lerwick hotel recently? we have booked for a meal before UHA next week.

Saw a traffic warden a few weeks ago, recognise him as ex bank of Scotland. Assume he's training as accompanied by a PC on street
Yup that's him. Adam.
-
Where's the traffic warden, I haven't seen him on the street yet.
There is no traffic warden, Angus gave the job up at least 18 months ago. The job has been re-advertised (just not very well).
I'm pretty sure there is one. Think he is possibly in training.

I brought the bells in by reading a book and having an ovaltine in bed!

I find that if your pleasant to workers they are usually pretty pleasant back. Although there is one shop I haven't been in for over a year due to the way I was spoken to. But that's personal preference.
I tend to shop in same places though as its easier. And yes that does usually mean tesco as that's my near by shop. Which I usually get pretty good service in. Also my bank (Santander) always helpful!

Is there any DIY shops open tomorrow? I may have had an accident with a handle!!
-
Had a meal at Kveldsro recently, reasonable good service service but the food was absolutely abysmal, the worst I have ever eaten in Shetland. Everyone in our party agreed, unfortunately, and we had a variety of dishes. Never again.
Usually it is extremely good but I went last weekend and was shocked at how different it was.
-
Avoid Kveldsro like the plague .... just been and everyone in our party agreed that the food was extremely poor. Specifically, the chips were severely undercooked, the fish equally overcooked, the Xmas dinner comprised rolled meat rather than proper turkey, the beef/steak was very poor quality cuts and the soft drinks overpriced. One of our party commented that she was last there 15 years ago and that it would be another 15 years before she returned. I will never go back. The standard of hotel food generally is poor in Lerwick as they make their money from the oil workers staying in the hotels and whose employers pay the bills. Try the Golden Coach as it's normally quite good, otherwise go out of Lerwick to Busta in Brae or stay at home and cook yourself a nice steak as I will do tonight.
really? I have NEVER been disappointed going there, infact we are very much looking forward to going there for the husbands birthday tomorrow night.

I hope they arrived safe and sound!!

Me.
I'm great.
I have no hesitation in recommending me to anyone and will certainly be using my services and skills again.
No need to thank me, M'am, just doing my job.
This did make me smile! Modest

Talking of Christmas....isn't Lerwick having a Christmas tree at the cross this year? It was really pretty in the snow last year.
No. There are only two trees gifted now. Besides if there had been one up already I don't think it would be there now with these winds. Happened last year. They snapped.
Living Lerwick have organised shops to have trees outside which get taken in at nights. I actually find it quite nice having little trees everywhere.
As for rubbish collection I believe it runs two days after normal collection date.
-
Try any of the hotels in that case. I don't think many places actually close over chrismas and new year.
-
I think most places are open, depends on the type of food your after.
-
I have a box of family circle! Put the kettle on!

Hot toddy would be lovely! Pjs on! What's on the box tonight? And who's turn to light the fire?!
