AGM's and EGM's are part of life and I suggest you start getting involved yourself if the youngsters are not willing. Ignorance gets you nowhere!! The logistical nightmare of organising a North Isles team/club must be obvious to all involved with the current Yell and Unst associations. The amount of phone calls required is incredible for one match. Travel and pick up-times appear to be straight forward but then the inevitable happens. Bereavements, events, weddings, injuries, weather, ferry problems etc. They all may require further phone calls. I remember G.Priest telling the SFA last year that one match had involved over 60 phone calls alone. This will obviously be MORE problematic with a combined island team. ( As it was previously I remember) That is the least of it. The two clubs finances and SIC grant applications would have to be combined which would VERY difficult and would probably mean running out of pocket for one season. The current Junior set-up has been primarily run AND funded by Unst FC with Unst picking up the additional costs. If their is such a strong will on the Island of Yell to support a combined team I suggest they get their own house in order at all levels and perhaps the may get their wish in the not too distant future. As far as fixtures go, Steve Naulls will be at the next meeting. At the emergency meeting which caused all this hastle, Unst agreed to play in the A-League on the condition that all Unst home matches were played in UNST. The association agreed and saturdays 3.30pm kick offs were to be preferred with any changes to be agreed by all parties including refs. Unst offered that, due to the obvious problem of midweek travel, that depending on cup draws they would play some matches midweek...Yell,Delting Etc. This will prove difficult for everyone but it was what the reps present at that meeting agreed to. P.S When a team struggles for players it does not give them the right to hijack another for their own benefit. Concentrate your efforts shown on this forum AT THE SFA MEETING.
